adding region

I am new to downloading regions and simply wanted to know how to get the region into the game properly. I did it the other day with another region from another site, but just downloaded Louisville, KY, my own home city. Any directions or link to directions which I may be ignorant of would be great. Welcome to Simtropolis...

There are different type of map files on the STEX. If this is the map you have downloaded, it is what is known as an SC4Mapper type. To get it into the game you will need to get SC4 Mapper. Once you have that installed, you can check the directions here (scroll down to the Mapper section).

That is also an SC4 Mapper map. You'll notice there is a *.SC4M file in the download. You'll need to follow the links above in my previous post to render the map.

Thanks for the help. Really. I got it downloaded, but I think I may be out of luck if my Windows does not support it or something like that. Go figure.

Try gooling for Python, and download at least the run-time. Woungaine writes in Python, and not all Windows version seem to have it.
