This years E3 starts on June 7. Microsoft kicks off the show followed by Sony.

What to Expect

Probably the most anticipated thing this year is the announcement of the Wii's successor. There is a slight chance that Microsoft will be unveiling the next generation Xbox, but this is unlikely considering they were quick to deny that developer kits were already distributed. They are also rumored to be making announcements regarding the Xbox Kinect.

Sony's announcements include the NGP (Next Generation Platform) and the latest Move software.

This is said to be the best E3 yet!!! Your opinion?

There's lots of stuff I'll be looking at this year, some of which are Mass Effect 3, Battlefield 3, Forza 4, TES: Skyrim, Saints Row 3, Tomb Raider and RWC 2011. I'm also forever waiting for EA to reveal the next proper SimCity game .

I'm not so interested in the new console news and I doubt Microsoft are ready to release their next platform seeing as they've just started milking a new generation of "gamers" with Kinect on 360, though there' nothing stopping them from crossing to another console. Isn't the NGP the next PSP?

Best E3 for me was 2009. I shall be watching the Microsoft and Sony Conferences but not Nintendo's as their's are always boring. Microsoft is so I kind check out the competition and Sony because I'm a PlayStation fan.

Looking forward to it. 1 day 12 hours till Sony Press Conference, I can't wait

Well after that, I can say that XBox have either made a success of Kinect, or are really looking to push it, as all the demos I watched contained the darn thing.

Onto the games so far:

Halo trilogy: Good for fans, the reboot seems worth it as well.

Fable: Meh, Molyneux shall not be trusted this time.

Gears 3: A drug overdose mixed with Pirates of the Caribbean.

Mass Effect 3: Don't know what to say. All of it was expected really.

Forza 4: Ooohhh, shiny!

Youtube, Bing etc.: Again, meh. May appeal to some, nice new features for existing users.

Microsoft press conference was awful, one of the worst I've ever seen. EA's was a pretty good show, direct and to the point, I like that. Ubisoft's was 'meh' right up still Assassins Creed, then it was awesome , also the Ubisoft host was the most annoying guy on the planet.

Hoping Sony can make this at least a decent E3, been relatively poor so far.

Microsoft announced that they plan to make their new Kinect Hub, Kinect Fun Lab, available immediately. This feature allows users to download gadgets for the Kinect. Microsoft will release 5 free gadgets along with it. Here is a video of it:

Xbox LIVE TV service will be available this fall. This video shows the new service:

Bing and Youtube integration will be happening soon. Not much was revealed about Youtube, but the Bing feature will be a voice activated search. It will search Netflix, Hulu Plus, and your Xbox. Here is a video showing this:

The new Xbox dashboard is based off of Windows Phone 7 and Windows 8 UIs. The dashboard uses tiles and can be controlled with Kinect.

Cloud storage on the Xbox will allow users to save your game in the cloud, and then continue playing on another Xbox 360 console. This feature will be available later this year when Microsoft releases the new dashboard.

Thought the Sony Press Conference was solid. No as good as their great one in '09 but much better than Microsofts earlier on.

Sony in the lead and with the amaing PSVita price Nintendo really needs to use some 3DS magic tomorrow

Im only really fussed about Forza and Battlefield, which i know im gonna get anyway. Modern Warfare looks... well... like Modern warfare 2 so im not getting that. (Seriously, i saw the trailer, theres no change)

I don't have an Xbox 360, so I'm not really interested in the new games, but unless the WII 2 is incredible and can match up to this, my next console will be an Xbox 360 (or 720).

Anyway, Sony announced the PSVita. The Wi-Fi model will set you back $249 while the 3G will cost $299. AT&T will be the provider of the 3G model in the US. Sony hasn't announced a official release date yet, but rumors are it will be November 11/2011. The new PSP has a 5 inch OLED touchscreen, twin cameras, twin speakers, and a microphone. Built in is a powerful quad core processor. Battery life is 4-5 hours. The back is touch sensitive which means that you control games without having to put your fingers on the screen. It will also have a built in GPS and an application named Near that will tell you where your friends are.

Another big announcement Sony had was the introduction of a 3D Playstation 3 24 inch monitor. The 3D glasses will cost $499.

Regarding the Vita, Nintendo has a lot of work on their hands. They didn't sell as many 3DS models as they were hoping to sell and now they have to try to stand up to this beast. Good luck.

I didn't really care for Battlefield 3 until I saw it today. Looks astonishing. Other games I plan on getting are Assassins Creed Revelations and Elder Scrolls V. I don't know about MW3 though. Part of me wants to continue on with the story The other part doesn't care because that game just sucks more and more. I'll probably side with the later statement.

Well the WII U certainly is different. It has a touch screen, wireless, and motion sensored controller with HD graphics. The controller includes a Power button, Home button, +Control Pad, A/B/X/Y buttons, L/R buttons and ZL/ZR buttons. It includes a rumble feature, camera, microphon, speakers, and stylus. The console also supports all old WII controllers.

The new console will have internal flash memory with the option to expand storage using a USB or SD card. Four USB 2.0 connector slots are included. You can view videos and photos here.

Okay the game I got most excited of is probably Uncharted 3 looks good and I got the multiplayer beta, which Im gonna test next weekend when I get back to my PS3. I also like the look of the new Tomb Raider, Assassins Creed Revelations and Mass Effect 3. Resistance 3 might be the first in its series that Im gonna buy it looks far more interesting than previous installments, but Im probably gonna wait for the reviews for that one.

What got me most excited though was the Sony PSvita and the games shown for it especially Uncharted Golden Abyss. Im so gonna buy the PSvita when it comes out and the connectivity between the PS3 and PSvita just adds so much to both systems.

Well its clear the Sony Vita is a day one buy for me, i'm also gonna get U3, i was hoping that the new Ghost Recon was gonna launch this year, but it looks aas though i'm gonna have to settle with MW3. I also want to know the elease on "I am alive" been waiting on that for awhile, battlefield 3 is also a buy for me, the new need 4 speed, saints row and driver basicly sums up my shopping list, also can't wait for the new Far cry.

On the other hand Nintendo once again failed to impress me, its clear they will never retun to their N64 days. I mean the Wii u looks like a colossal failure.

Well the WII U basically seems like an HD version of the WII with a new controller. Nothing really interesting. Unless Nintendo still has more to announce regarding it.

Microsoft is giving me CoD: Modern Warfare 3 and Halo 4, EA is giving me Mass Effect 3 and that's about it. Everything else is a "i'll have to look into it more." But those three i just mentioned, get an automatic "need to buy" status. Just cause.

Oh god, and Halo's 5 and 6. Damn I'll be 'playin Halo well into my early twenties!

Rumours say that the Xbox 720 will be revealed at E3 2012 (link). I find it highly unlikely considering all the new features Microsoft just released.
