Terrain Types

I was looking at the config in the region.ini file found in my regions folder when I noticed a line of code.

Terrain type = 0

Does this mean, that it could be possible to have multiple regions with a different textured land for each one? And what are the exisiting terrain types already in place? I guess it is just water and land, but it would be really interesting to know if someone had created a mod to allow for snow as a terrain type. Has anything like this been done? I know of some Mods that can replace the land texture, but I just wanted it to be different for one region.

That parameter can be either 0 (land) or 1(water).

However, you are not completely restricted to this, as you can create your own maps or download some from the STEX. See the Omnibus for more information, or join the forums at the mapping group.

There is a way to add snow to the game there are many diffrent ways all of which are on the stex there are so many i wont link to them just use the search function on the top right pick st excange and find them that way to pick the one you like.

Use Startup Manager and you can assign different terrains to your regions or cities. It's really easy! This is what I do.

It looks like there is a problem with downloading it from ST at the moment. You can get it from the German SC4 site: http://kurier.simcityplaza.de/details.php?file=311

Many of my cities use different police cars, trams, and trains. SUM helps me keep my sanity. Hope it works well for your use. Enjoy!
