I was wondering if anyone here use the CAM, from SC4 devotion, with the camelot. I know this is not sc4 devotion, but i want it a honest answer on this mod. I'm not sure if i should downloaded or not.

If one of you use it before or still use it, can you tell me if it's good or not. I would really appreciate.

The CAM is a great mod, I would just install the R$$$, R$$, CO$$$, and the CO$$. Download ONLY. There are a lot of dependencies.

CAM allows your cities to grow denser, though it may inflate certain bugs, especially the "eternal commuter bug."

I would also recommend avoiding any mods that modify the RCI's demands when using CAM, such as the Super Demand Ordinance, as it may, and have caused major headaches. I lost a two million population city a few years ago when the residential demand fell down to very bottom of the chart, permanently, by running CAM with SDO. Deleting the city and starting over did not cure the dead residential demand.

I've been using the CAM since it came out, and I highly recommend it. Personally, I would recommend downloading all the CAM material you can. The CAM has been carefully designed to extend the growth scale of high capacity buildings in an orderly way through an additional series of building stages that don't exist in the original game.

I would strongly second Loney's warning about using custom demand mods with the CAM - it's just not a good idea. Also, if you're using the CAM in a city, you shouldn't use any custom buildings that are bigger (i.e., have a higher capacity) than the ones supplied by Maxis, unless they're specifically CAM buildings.

Although the Eternal Commuter Loop is carefully documented in the CAM manual, the CAM itself really doesn't make it worse. These loops are more a function of the population of the city's buildings and the efficiency of the traffic simulator than anything else. The more population you have in your buildings, CAM or not, the worse your eternal commuter loops will be. The loops can be avoided completely by following the directions in the CAM manual, whether or not you use the CAM. Basically, you just have to be careful about how you connect your cities. If a loop forms, you can always break it.

I just built a city in an otherwise blank region, and installed the CAM after. It sent the population up 100,000, and about 20 R$$$ stage 10 buildings came up.

Just from the name, I can tell you "no." Anything that changes jobs or demand is not CAMpatible.

There's a thread called CAM - inCAMpatible Mods which is quite useful. From the first post in the thread:

The CAM manual contains a concise list of the most commonly used mods that are not compatible with the Colossus Addon Mod.

This thread gives a little more detail about these mods and why they are "inCAMpatible".

I also use the CAM, with the Super Demand Ordinance. Been doing this ever since CAM came out, and no problems. The way I play the game is I zone both R$$$ and C$$$ at the same time. Then I let it run for a lil bit, until a few residents move in. I pause, enact all the ordinances, including Super Demand Ordinances for all commercial. Then I run the sim again, for about 30-50 years. The residential demand drops a lil bit, but it never tanks.
