    Hi All,

1st Time Poster, have Mercy =). I have had an Idea and I need the community to tell me if it stupid or not, which I am sure none of you will hesitate to do =). I took the config.bmp, and relayed it out in a 24x28 grid in excel. Then, took the greyscale image, and inserted into the sheet as a "background" image so the sheet grid would show thru. I could put a 4x4-2x2-1x1 squares anywhere i wanted and could now take a google map of the area, and correspond my config.bmp layout to the real layout of the towns and cities/boros of the areas I'm re-creating. But, It didn't quite line up so I had to increase the row height in the grid to compensate. This evened the grid @ 1025x1025 with the image and it actually looks like it may work. But will the layout be off when I import it? Now, you guys seem to be light years ahead in Sim, I was mad into it, then had a baby, no simin for me, kids are 5 & 3 now, got a little time and was cleaning the desk and saw the disc, u know, that old chesnut.

I have attached an Image for your review, this is copied from excel. In excel, I am able to manipulate, color & name the grid squares, I started with Point State Park, Downtown & The Strip District to show the intent of how I would continue to construct the grid with 4x4-2x2-1x1's, when complete, will copy the color pattern into the Paint config, then place it & Import thru Terraformer like normal.

Basically, do you guys think this is a worthy endeavor, if it works it can be applied as a universal mapping tactic that I dont think Ive seen in the community ( I could be wrong), or am I chasing something that will never work?, i,e; always out of line or sync I mean. Lot of work to have the cities be off by a 1/4", or in the middle of a lake u know. Let me know, thx.

Addition: When I viewed the Image after uploading/attaching it to this post, my fears seem to be confirmed. In the excel program, the grid square for Point State Park is exactly on the triangle tip @ the point of Downtown Pgh, But, in the uploaded image, the grid has, for lack of a better term, shifted upward and is now out of line. The grid square for Point State Park(Bold Bordered 1x1 squares to the left) is now in the middle of the Allegheny River. I have worked with these types of image imports across multiple programs before and am aware of this problem, but will it skewe in the Importing Process into SC4? I'm gonna try it, but I'd still like to hear you guy's input on the process. Thx Alot.
