My City

Hello, I was wondering what some peope think about my largest city (I've started a new region now):

Interesting facts;

Population of city centre: 1,250,000

Size: 16km squared total area (large city), 4km squared of buildable land (equivalent of a medium city)

Average Income: £25,000

Life expectancy: 98.4 years

The City

Typical houses (100% of the population live in these type of buildings)

City centre motorway

Sub-urban houses (In a different district to the above photos

Your city looks really interesting and I like your pictures!

However, there is an appropriate forum for showcasing your cities on Simtropolis: The City Journal section.

I encourage you to develop your region more and create a city journal to showcase your cities! This forum is more for a general discussion of the game and for members to get help.

Pretty nice, although the skyline has a bit too drastic of a taper in the skyline for my tastes. Very similar to how I use to build my cities with the airport out of the way like that.

Did you use mods? Downloaded skyscrapers? If so can you name which ones, cause I like the variety of skyscrapers you have and wish to get some for my city (I'm new to simtropolis).

However, there is an appropriate forum for showcasing your cities on Simtropolis: The City Journal section.

I encourage you to develop your region more and create a city journal to showcase your cities! This forum is more for a general discussion of the game and for members to get help.

Thank you and sorry, I didn't know. I don't play this region anymore, I've started a new one which will surround a large lake, it looks more realistic since I can plop every building on the game (including the orginal buildings), I'll be sure to post them in the section that you mentioned.

Thank you, as mentioned on the post above I've started a more realistic city which is located by a lake, it also has a harbour/quay like Canary Wharf in London; as for your question, some buildings are mods, the houses are not, here are the names of some of the buildings (from the top of my head);

International Finance Centre, Hong Kong

World Trade Centre, New York

Berkner Bank

Stratasphere, Las Vegas

Lighthouse tower, Dubai

Harbourside tower

Marina 101, Dubai

Those can be seen from the pictures, I have many more mods though (far too long to list), if you want more skyscraper names just message me.

Take a look at this thread. [click link] Hopefully it can point you into the right direction so that you can get some custom content into your cities!

Click on the ST Exchange (button located at the top toolbar of this forum next to Live Chat). There you can download all the mods and buildings you need for your game! Make sure you put all downloads into your Sim City 4/Plugins folder and download all the dependencies associated with that download. Dependencies allow the building to show in the game, and the list of dependencies are usually included in the readme file of the download. Of course, some files on the STEX do not require dependencies.

However I remember reading that if you install the CAM you should start a new region as it could mess up your old region. Now I have a region I have been working on for a month now and wish to continue working on it with new towers. My question is if i install any of the towers posted on the STEX, will they mess up my current game, or can I continue working on my region without any problems?

That's right, you should be in this forum. However, the answer you want is that adding plugins (except the CAM) should not have any effect on your region. The CAM has some issues that you need to research with respect to what will play together with it. Generally the CAM download documents supply an exclusion list.

Notwithstanding that, you should individually test each new plugin with the current suite when you add it to be sure you haven't added one that will not dance with the others. There is no way for the STEX/LEX/PLEX builders to do this. It is an NP complete problem when you consider the rather huge number of combinations that can occur. Only the user, having selected a plugin, can test to see if it works for him.
