I have had the game for almost 2 weeks and never once had it crash. I did have to download it twice because the first time it installed incorrectly for some reason.

As far as tips, it really depends what kind of city you want to build. I guess "Plan Ahead" is a  good catch all for everything though. 4.gif

Hey Heman9 --

I played SC4 for years and truly enjoyed the community of modders and their numerous updates which made my cities and limited game playing time something to look forward to...

I couldn't wait to get CXL2011 and after purchasing a new laptop in November, made sure it was on my Christmas list and have been playing pretty solid the last several days during my holiday break. Yes, there are numerous bugs and fixes that need to be added but there are already a couple of great additions thanks to guys like GlobexCo and others.

The game is truly graphic intense which uses up a ton of resources so make sure your box has a great graphics package with a ton of memory. I have found that running the game in "High" resolution works well on my box and the "Super Hi Res" patch works great for a short time while taking pictures...not a good idea while game playing, hence the various crashes alot are speaking of....

The game does an "autoback-up" every so many minutes and worse case, you can restart if you have a crash. I have made a habit of doing numerous "saves" during each "building phase" because I was having some issues before I learned of some tweaks by the players in the Simtropolis forum(s)...and I'm not much of a reader thanks to my A.D.D. but I have pushed myself to learn as much as possible....my brain hurts...!

Bottom line: the game freakin' rocks once you figure out a few tricks and according to a couple of the modders I have spoken with, Focus is supporting the community to help enhance the game and appear to be receptive to input (right now)...hopefully, the mod guys will learn the various differences and will make an impact on the game as has happened in SC4. It'll take some time, but I believe as more get into the game and continue to share their input, we'll all enjoy it as much, if not more, than SC4.

I can't wait for some of the talent in SC4's community to get ramped up in CXL because I think its a game that we all have really wished SC4 would have become...

Do the tutorials one at a time, learn a piece of the game...and read the posts because there is some invaluable information in there.....and use Google search for just about any topic...it usually brings you right back in to Simtropolis...!

Feel free to P.M. me with any questions...enjoy!!!
