    Hello,

I'm new to the whole BATting aspect, and I was wondering how to make a pyramid in gmax. I'm trying to produce an accurate representation of the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas.

Eventually, as my skills improve, I'd like to do a majority of the Las Vegas casino/hotels. I've noticed a lack of these on the STEX.

    Thanks,

    Jake

Some pyramids are made as "steps", rather as a real pyramidal shape. For such a case just stack boxes of progressively smaller width and length (but of the same height).

For a true pyramidal shape, try this:

    - Create a box, with all #segments (along widht, length and height) set to 1.

    - Convert to poly or mesh, or add a poly or mesh edit modifier.

    - Go to vertices editing, and select the four vertices at the top.

    - In the Edit Geometry group, select Collapse; the vertices will move to the centre.

    - Select the tip again, to verify that there is only vertex there, not four. If not, select Weld (the four vertices will be fused into one).

    You're done!

You could also use a 8 sided geo shape thingy, and select hemisphere, but i cant remember. And if you make a building, post it in a thread so we can give advice, saves you uploading stuff and getting flamed by not-to-constructive people, coz first uploads are rarely good. (Now theres a challenge to prove me wrong.)

Hi, a pyramid are 4 triangles (NGON in Gmax with three sides). I start with a square at the bottom as reference (to see the ground-shape)... Draw one triangle and place in in the square. Then, rotate it (upwards) to make one side of the pyramid. You'll have to adjust the non-uniform scale and move it to make sure the triangle is exactly from corner to corner and the top should be in the middle of the square. Use the X Y Z position! Even a small mistake can ruin the pyramids shape...

Then you can clone (or mirror) the side and rotate it to make the opposite side. They should fit into the square and their top must touch. Clone (or mirror) the both of them and rotate to make the other sides...

I hope this is enough? If you need pictures to guide you trough just send me a message...

Oh... and please don't bat the excalibur, it's so ugly 3.gif

    Good luck
