SC4 Wont open from my task bar

I just recently re-installed SimCity 4 Deluxe after a year + of not playing and as soon as I start the game it immediately drops to my task bar and wont come back up. I can click on it and it will show a black screen or the EA screen for a split second and I'll hear the "challenge everything" before it drops back down to the task bar.

I've searched around on the forums before posting and tried a few fixes that people have mentioned and none have worked for me.

I'm a bit of a computer idiot but I think this is the information needed just let me know and direct me and I'll post the right stuff

It might not be the problem but it sounds like a bug I, and many others, have had with Firefox, if you had FF open when running the game make sure it is maximised or run SC4 in windowed, after a while the issue wears of usually after all of the intro videos.

Did you apply the updates to the game?  If not, that is probably your problem.

Try running the game with no other user programs running.  Windows isn't smart enough to handle several user programs and all that gear, especially Vista.  Your game should not be in your task bar if you are running full screen.  You can force it by putting a -f in the shortcut one space after the name of the game.  You could also add a space and -intro:off to dump the EA movie.

The idea that Firefox would somehow interfere seems strange to me.  What other cute little things are you running?  Like maybe a news or stock ticker or a chat line?

at the time when i was trying to play it was just firefox, skype and avast but avast is my anti-virus im going to try starting it up with firefox off and see if that does the trick

also if im adding the -f and -introff into the game it would like like this right?
