Welcome to my journal. I hope you enjoy reading my journal here.

Unlike others, I've decided to not to adopt storytelling in here. This is because I sometimes have difficulty continuing the journal when I stumped for ideas. Instead, I adopt a report-like style, which are often non-continuous so that I can write what I want, when I want to.

So, here it is, one of the very best of Maxisland Times reports.

PORT TOWN IS 2 CENTURY YEARS OLD

PORT TOWN, MAXISLAND, 2 January - Today, Port Town has celebrated its 200th anniversary of the founding of the city in Port Town Elementary School this evening. Since this morning, the town has experienced an unusual traffic jam around the city due to people flocking to the school. It is estimated that the total number of people attending the event are around 5,000. People who attended the event including the mayor of the city, Defacto Navy and the town's industrialist, Sir Baron Tyley.

After the announcer handed the opening ceremony to the mayor, Defacto Navy walked to the podium to deliver his opening speech. He said, "I am very grateful to be here to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Port Town today with my citizens and visitors. We had finally come a long way since the founding of the city and Maxisland by Will W. Wright. We've seen Port Town blossomed from a small unknown village into a thriving town. The exceptional growth in terms of economy and social benefited us in many ways. We now have prosperity that were often unheard of when the town is still a village. We now have offices and electronic factories dotted around here when in the past, smokestacks and taco stalls dominate our town. We now have schools that can educate our children and hospitals that can treat us when we're sick when in the earlier days, it is just the opposite."

At the end of his speech, he said, "As in every town, Port Town is not perfect but we, the people and the council, can solve every issue together if we are determined to make Port Town a better place to live. Thank you." The end of the speech marked the start of Port Town's 200th anniversary celebration. The celebration began with flower parade, held at Founder Avenue. The theme for this parade is 'Port Town : A Better Living'. Policemen were deployed to keep the parade running smoothly. Some 45 participants show off their flower decorated vehicles. The parade lasts for 55 minutes. After that, the judges judged the floats and announced the winner. The winner for the parade was a float by Henry Yard, a carpenter who shifts interests to gardening after growing vegetables by accident.

The celebration finally ended with Mayor trying to open the curtain, saying "open sesame" to the curtain, and finally ripping the curtain after he found that the curtain was stuck to the wall. It revealed a blueprint of the first monument of Port Town, The Founder Monument (also known as Nuclear Starbucks Canary Wharf 2K10 Edition With 50% More Awesomeness), designed by Glenni. The lot for the monument has not been decided yet, but the council is expected to build the monument on one of the power substations in this town.

Visitors and citizens of Port Town finally went back to their homes, tired but happy, at 19:00. Traffic in the town subsided to usual at around 23:00.

Phew! So... that's my first report, although not exactly a report. Tell me what do you think.

@nathanthemayor & reaper88 : Thanks. But I won't call it an awesome start. I felt it was just more of an excuse to start the CJ instead.

    OFF-TOPIC

No CJ is complete without a banner (or really? meh). This, I think, is what I will use as a banner for this CJ. This one's a prototype, so the final banner may differ. Any suggestions about how to improve it? (Resized due to obvious circumstances)

EDIT : 2nd sketch. Looks much better.... (oh, I made the banner, including the Maxis one from scratch, if you were wondering)

    Very nice :-)

"If you try to please everybody, you often times end up pleasing nobody, especially yourself. When somebody offers to do a favor for free, like making a mod for SimCity 4, you shouldn't be overly critical of something generously given to you. In other words, you shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth." - Twilight Sparkle after playing SimCity

"Being a mayor or a content creator for SimCity 4 is a heavy responsibility, Patrick. Each city and each custom content is like a child, and must be treated as such." - SpongeBob Squarepants after playing SimCity

"Without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible." - Frank Zappa

"The wisest men follow their own direction." - Euripides
