Welcome to the conversation.

If you are using PEGs garbage chute, I am sure it came with a readme file that speciified the dependencies.  The big outfits like PEG, BSC, NDEX, and others who work co-operatively tend to have prop packages that are mentioned.  You can usually install a prop pack once for a site and get most of what you need, but you must read the documentation.  If you are not used to having things in bits and pieces, you are now on a learning curve where things get reused, and are often called in multiple places but only needed in your plugins folder once.  This is the whole idea of separate prop packs.  It works like object programming libraries where a thing is published, made generally available, and everyone who needs such an object just uses it.

And if you are getting "brown paper packages tied up with string" for the main building, then you are not including the model and maybe not the descriptor files in your plugins.  An unconsolidated BAT lot has three parts: .SC4MODEL, .SC4DESC, and .SC4LOT.  All three have to be placed in your plugins for the lot to funtion.  The model contains the building graphics, the descriptor contains the properties, and the lot contains the infrastructure.  Good BAtters will often release a simple lot made with the BAT as a single .dat file containing the other pieces.  This is the best way to avoid confusion.

However, some lots contain multiple models and so on, and options must be selected manually.  Many BATters don't have the necessary skill set to build an installer with a question and answer dialog, so they just write an installation instruction.  I picked up one lot the other day that have more than 15 files some of which had to be omitted if you wanted the BAT in English, and others omitted if you wanted the BAT in Chinese.

The garbage chute does come with readme but it says that you need no dependencies

Yes, that's normal with PEGs stuff unless you pick up one of his big packages.  When you unzipped the archive, what was in it beside the readme?  Any file that was there except documenation stuff should have gone into your plugins.  With PEG, I would have expected a single .dat file containing all the components, but since I don't use that package, I don't know what is in it.
