I think we should make a new airport pack. I am currently developing diagonal runways, along with the new terminal and a new control tower. So if we all make bits, we can put it intoan airpot pack, that also includes the diagonal and curved pieces from the old joerg inspired pack, (the runway pieces were made by someone else) of course we would have to get permission first. we could also ask permission for the JFK jetblue terminal to go in there. but that's probably a long way off, and of course we all have to agree. So what do you think of my idea?

ToxicPiano, Your thinking of Thalassicus pack, Wich IMO contains everytinhg exept BATed buildings(and diagonal Runways).

I Personally im working on MATP(Modular Airport Terminal Project), wich will be the DIY terminals, if one wants a specific design not in the game.
The Project has all parts ive thought of listed in my bat thread, but its mostly terminal stuff.

Though i know it will be long till the entire pack is finished, and im gonna release it as soon as its functional, and then add to it as the peices get finished.

But it would be perfect if we all just added to the same pack, so the end user only has to download one large file, istead of 20 small ones.

Im Gonna ask Thalassicus(and Joerg) for permission to Intergrate Thalassicus Airportpack V2.1 Beta into the pcj as soon as i draw nerer the first release. Wich sould be fairly soon. This would make it even easyer for people, 1 Download basicly, otherwise we will ahve to poit everyone to Thalassicus pack(wich is off the STEX... until permision is secured)

Then if we(SW) allso pop everything into the same pack, it would be alot easier for everyone.

My Pack(Wich could be converted into the SW-Pack) sould hit first release in 1-2 weeks if everyting hits the shedule ^^

okay, but i haven't ever seen him post (i joined in june). is he still using ST? or will you email him?
Diagonal runways is in develoment, bear that in mind. i thought we should have a team logo:

I think you have an obsession with the colors orange and black. Lol

I think the design looks great... Maybe the front of the plain could be just a bit more curved, but it is really great.

Maybe change the colors to something more sky-ish?

An bluer background would be nice(since it is the sky afterall), Maby have the Jet Black, and the fumes White. Just a thought, made a quick edit in PS... Colorchange and Gaussian Blur(@1). also i did lose some pixels in the image :/

And ive done some work on Muzzy's ATCT, Nightlights are coming alive, though i think we will have to render the Building seperatley to the Tower because of the blue spots(and it would cut down redering time) lighting up the pylon. I decided to keep the nightlights uptop, from this distance it looks very much better.

Its the Spots making the building look blue btw... not intended...

And I did the retextureing of my Walkway, im coming up for Beta5 in my Pack now, wich means new Ingame tests ^^, got a building to retexture, and 2 to retexture and change some details.

Well, back to the BAT now i guess ^^

Edit, Toxicpiano, Thalassicus hasnt been here since Febuary i think, hasnt worked on his pack for almost a year, but i bet i can reach him on his Email.
Oh, and i was thinking a public Beta, so yeah, ofcource you can hava a go at it 2.gifEnd of Edit

yay! so, um is it ready to test? Also when/if we get permission to use the airport pack can we PLEASE remove the terminals made of bits of buildings from the game? they just look awful in my opinion (joergs invention).

I could send you the last Batch, but thats nearly a month old, and very buggy, give me a day or to and the next Batch sould be ready 2.gif(I want them ready until schoolstart on tuesday)
Id be happy to make this batch an Internal Beta, Just to go through them all and se that they work as they are suposed to ans so on, before I release them puplicly(and let them find all the minor hard to find bugs 3.gif)

This since id rather not release inperfekt things(atleast they should be the at the top of my ability when released puplicly)

If anyone needs help with the details for realistic runways... I'd be willing..

I will again extend my help to assist in layout of 'prefabricated' runways to match the real ones installed in modern real-life int'l airports today. As well as other runway texture details (i.e. magnetic numbering on the touchdown side, approach light layout, etc)..

Well, i did some more work on my Medium Terminal, its got a bug, and needs some detailing, i might ad an Observation deck on the roof towards the Tarmac(Oppocite the one with the terminal sign)...
The Roof is completely redesigned to be an Glassroof insted of the Aluminium one i had before. I think it Looks better.
There is quite a few details left for me to add. Mostly minor ones now.

Toxic: Yeah, il give the entire team an hands up via PM ^^ Oh and BTW, that runway your dooing, its textures right? not a model?(though that be quite cool to, but a hell to Render)

The part about Joergs Terminals, if you have the Latest version(2.1Beta(Thalassicus ver) There actually optional, i belive its just to remove the following files:
Airport_Terminals.dat
Airport_Terminals_AirportDeveloperType.dat
Airport_Terminals_AirportDeveloperTypes.dat

It would be good to have that tested out, to se what happens ingame, if they dissapear or just loose their Airport Ability, but my bet is this makes them Optional ^^

blahdy:Most runways are done, and Toxic's on the Diagonal ones. There are Prefab Runways(ortagonal) in Thalassicus Airport Pack(2.1Beta) already and in Joergs Airport Pack(V1.3) too.

    Diagonal runways would be hard. I have thought of two ways to do it:

    The first way would be a BATted Runway at a 45 degree angle but made into a prop, so it could overhang the lot. That way you could have just a single tile, but the runway runs out of both corners.
     
    The second way is to do it as lots with the texture of a diagonal runway. It would be single tiles and making the runway would be tedious, and you probably wouldn't get any plane animations on either of these.
     
    Personally I think the second is best, however I don't know how to make custom textures and get them in the LE....If anyone does that would be cool, thanks!

    Well muzz you are too late in the fact that i had already thought of the first idea last night. no need for custom textures, as i have the way layed out anyway. if you had one tile, and the rest was overlapping, then it would be quite easy to build tarmac to the runway, because it would go underneath the overhanging runway. simple. 'ave it...

    make the whole runway in the BAT and render it. ( if you want it in that direction make sure you make custom LODs) in the plugin manager make it a prop, then in the LE pick a lot of your choice ( NOT A GROWABLE LOT) and make the lot size 64X64. then open up the prop menu and find the runway. place it anywhere on the lot. then make the tile size 1 x1 and select the prop. it will automatically center itself. Also in gmax make a box sized .001 x .001 x. 001 and save it with the title being whatever you want the runway lot to be called- example- Simwings Runway- then render it and make it an airport building in the Plugin manager. then use this for the building on your lot. Voila!


    However the runway will only show up in zooms 3,4 and 5 so you need to modd it to appear in zooms 1 and 2 which I don't know how to do. pm me if you have questions1.gif

    Earlier on I showed you the front of an airport terminal. It was kinda small. Well let me show you what happened to it...

    Only thing is the style of the front doesn't really fit the style of the rest of it, but I can sort that out. I'd like to get your opinions first.

    Muzzy, Nice looking terminal there, and i do agree, the entrance dosnt really fit, though i guess you could lighten up the texture of the arms that might fix it.

    The roof looks very blank too, maby some railings(appart from foorRoofjunk, wich i see you havnt added yet), just around the sides. Also the texture seems to have lines in it, is it supposed to be that way?

    Other than that i have to say it looks gorgeous ^^

    Im trying to get some things renderd for a Internal Beta today, have a few textures to correct, some niteliteing to do, and then the argeous renders *bleech*

    Il be back soon with some preveiws
