In one of my sandbox cities, I have a big industrial park, and lots of people (over 25000, and I started this city after lunch).  My problem is that they are almost all walkers.  I have bus stations all over, but I have one intersection, actually a one-way round about, that has over 2,000 pedestrians passing through it, even though there is a high capactiy bus station in the centre of the circle.

These people seem to appear out of nowhere.  My traffic flows show 70% or less except one section which, out of the blue (literally) goes to the green of 100% for one block.  This doesn't make any sense, as I can't figure out where all these pedestrians are coming from.  The two large capacity bus stops in the two traffic circles are running at 100%+, and I still have 2,000 overflow pedestrians wandering about.

I am using the RTMT, NAM (2010) and SAM as my main modds.  The city growth continues, and I have all the usual "rewards".  I am tempted to just ignore the pedestrians, but wonder if it is a symptom of the traffic demanding something that I don't get.  Maybe they are asking for a subway?  The more I think about it, the better I like the idea of a short stretch of tube.

Of course the traffic advisor is going nuts.  I don't think he was designed for lotsa people on his precious roads on foot.  I look at his alarms and usually find them to be false.

    UPDATE: 09:51 PM

I put in a subway line, and the problem is solved.  Sometimes, you just need to write a problem down.

So, I guess the lesson is:  If the pedestrians seem to be ignoring our transit lines, its subway time.
