Hi,

I'm playing SimCity 4 for a while now. I got High Tech I, High wealth C and R, and everthing from police stations to education. My demand are for all zones quite high and i've got some little high density zone's, but nothing grows. Only if i zone extra low density, i get more citizens. My citizens are around 3 000 atm, but hardly grow. I really can't figure out the problem for some years. How do i get high density for more citizens?

Thanks!

Ok more information please..

Is this the only city in the region?

If it is - you need a much higher population (12-15k) before larger density buildings can pop up.

If not - Make sure you have water supplied to your housing. Higher Density Buildings (even R$) need water.

Make sureto take care of garbage removal as well.

The problem is that i don't get a higher population. Almost everything is zoned. All that is taken care off.

What size tile are you building?  If you are on a 4Km square tile, and you can't zone any more space you will need to do some urban renewal by demolishing something.

The program is set up to expect Sims to progress through school through education to go from $ to $$$.  This needs either a city college or the university.  At the same time, you need to keep a balace of Sims of all types.  Even the fanciest CO$$$ building has very few $$$ Sims working in it.  Most are $ doing meanial tasks, some $$ doing supervisory tasks and the $$$ are few, at the top.

From your posts it seems that you are trying to get an all $$$ situation.  This is impossible.  Look at the two graphs, Population by age, and Educaton by age.  These will help you figure out what is wrong.

You've probably hit a city cap - build parks to relieve it and see if it helps.

    Thanks,

I have indeed a full population of educated people. Is this why it reached a cap? Too many smart people and too little undereducated? The fact is that i don't want any dirty industry and only hightec. You might say, build some more commercial, but the demand for C is very smal, even though I zoned very little.

If your wanting to build med/high buildings you have to provide them with water too.............or you could download a demand cheat.

I think it's due to commute time my city doesn't grow. Wasn't commute a glitch in SC4?

If you are using the latest NAM there should be no problem with commute, unless you truly have too many over capacity roads.

Actually forget what I said earlier, at 3,000 inhabitants you wont build anything high density - you need atlest 15,000 for 2-3 story buildings to appear, and far more for huge complexes

You can't devellop large buildings right away - you need a higher population.

I always say it, but take your time.  Dont build or increase funding on civics until it is absolutely necessary.  Patience is the key to building successful cities.

Please go spend some time with the Omnibus.  It is full of the kind of information you need.  This game has a long learning curve.  I've been playing since it came out, and I can't say that I can build a successful city for sure.

Before you consider installing the Network Addon Mod, read the STEX page, download it, unpack it and read the documentation.  There is a lot to understand here.  The learning curve is never ending because the game is open-ended.

Eventually your will want the RTMT which provides much more in the line of Road Top transit stops and more.  If you haven't a selection of critical plug-ins, do spend some research time with the forums.  You will have a much more satisfactory experience with the game by increasing your knowledge.  This is not a simple game.  It has held my attention for eight years.
