My 1st tomato flower showed up today. hopefull cold weather ( was down to 40 last night) dont drive the bees away.

Pretty tomato flower, up north nothing is ready for planting yet except those that should be planted the month after the last frost. We planted blueberries and raspberries last year because we could not pick raspberries at our old house while there are tenets and our new house already has gooseberries and a ton of blackcurrants (they look like shrubbery). We also get elephant garlic every year because they reseed themselves.

We had 5 colder and cloudy days this week that didnt do the squash any good at all.

the leaves are all this pale green not the darker color there were before.

hopefully it was just the lack of light or cold and now thats done we expect seveal sunny days in arow, so we will see if they recover.

Sounds like lack of insolation to make chlorophyll. Good luck.

What the heck is eating these leaves on my tomatos?

it seems to be leaving the Squash and strawberrys alone.

There are several leaf borers. Did you plant some marigolds with your tomatoes? This usually averts pests, especially tomato worms. You could try some nicotine (also used for rose bushes).

BTW, marigold flowers are edible.

Well the spider mites are gone now.

every thing seem to be growing faster now.

still only a few tomatos so far but its not been hot yet.

I see they are in flower, so yon should have them in about a month. Two plants won't give you very many.

i had the squashs in it before but ther were not doing well so i put them in a bigger pot.

I may get some herbs to put in there too between the strawberrys

Even though they will be Texas strawberries, there is still lots of room there. When the strawberries are done, you can certainly add some more herbs in their place. Try tarragon. It has to be in a pot, because otherwise it is a spreading weed. Fresh tarragon and fresh basil make salads and other dishes superb. Fresh basil also makes a great addition to tomatoes, including sandwiches.

If you want a nice looking edible plant, flowers and leaves, try nasturtium. The leaves make great sandwiches and the flowers go well in either potato or green salads as garnish.

I'll bet. Congratulations.

The local strawberries hit the market last week, but I still had some California ones, so I am getting some this week. Frankly, the local berries are smaller, sweeter, and generally not trucked over a thousand miles. They also tend to be more expensive, why I don't know. Anyway, here comes two or three weeks of strawberry madness. No cake, no cream, just a little sugar to extract the juice, and maybe some yogurt to add creaminess. I might even add a little nutmeg for earthiness.

My last place had a big patch of wild strawberries and I sometimes managed to get to them before the wild life. Tiny berries, packed full of deliciousness. You had to get up early to harvest any before the squirrels, chipmunks, coons, and birds got them.

What else are you growing, Mr. Greenjeans?

Can you set up a sheet of aluminum foil as a reflector for them?

I recommend LED grow lights.

By the way, I have had plumeria plants for years and they have yet to bloom. What do you recommend?

Dont know a lot about flowers but plumeria plants according to the inter net need lots of

sun6-8 hours a day and moderate watering. and phosporus

Well the tomoatos have been moved to my moms were they will get much more light then they got here.

Our berries are in season! Our currents and gooseberries are ripe and our raspberries (which we bought last year) are starting to ripen, and the others have green berries that will ripen by the end of next month.
