Brenda, I don't think you'll be able to turn the monorail and cross the rail on the same tile. I think you can cross at an angle and then turn to leave your lot at 90%. I can't find the post now, but there was discussion in the Modding forums about 1) two network types crossing each other and 2) chaging the direction of network enabled tiles. Search for posts by redlotus and you should find it. I remember the thread had some simple diagrams (if that helps).48.gif'

EDIT
I've found a few threads that may be of interest:
- Road-Over-Rail Overpass
- I need help making a multifunctional mass transit lot

But I can't find the one I was thinking of. But glancing through these, it looks like you can't have different types of neworks crossing each other in a lot, they have to be parallel.8.gif'

Your subway/bus and monrail/parking lots are amazing. They are the greatest think since qbert2's lots. (I think that's how he spells his name) Except yours look way better. Great job.51.gif

    Congrats.
As to the hub, maybe you could put the lines in parallel and let the user connect them up outside the lot.

Sorry about the double post but I came across this bus and tram stop designed in 1996 by Calatrava for the centre of St Gallen in Switzerland. It is on a scale closer to a small station concourse than a bus stop, and is elegant in both the aesthetic and engineering senses of the word. The back of the shelter curves behind the row of seats, providing the spacious concourse feel, and giving the shelter a depth at the centre of nearly eight meters. A steel arch 40 meters long supports the roof above this space, with cantilevers carrying the glass canopy to the edge of the pavement, nearly four meters in front of the steel arch. It reminds me of your own monorail station roof and I just wanted to share it with you.

    1.gifThank you Hogmeister 1.gif

That station is beautiful6.gif it inspires me a lot. Thank you for sharing it with me. I didn't know of Calatrava until I joined simtropolis and I started to hear about him (I think is a he, right?49.gif). I always look for ideas in green buildings. I dream of the possibility of living on a clean city full of trees or at least with a lot of them 1.gif. I have a pasion for the future and this game allows me to explore that part of me. I'm finding Calatrava's buildings to match some of my futuristic dreams 1.gif. Calatrava is my first and only (for now, because I don't know any other3.gif) favorite architect 42.gif

Today I want to show you the progress on my SubBus Station Version 2.

I don't know if I'm going to make it available in different colors yet, what do you think?

Ah sorry, I completely lost the track on this thread.

    So...

I love that station, it is so beautiful. You sure like those colors1.gif. They look fine to me, though. And to answer you question, that pic I posted is from Mexico City.

PS.- Those angles in the transportation hum seem to be a bit too complicated, I would suggest you to make it a bit bigger, and with 90

There was a show on telly (TV) last night on Frank Gehry. He did the Guggenheim in Bilbao and some other pretty amazing buildings such as the music museum in Seattle. Now there's a BAT challenge.

Does anybody knows where the tutorial for making custom props from BAT is? I can't find it 28.gif41.gif48.gif

I'm not aware of any specific tutorial. To make a prop from a gmax object, you do the BAT export as normal. Then in the PluginManager you drag it over the Prop type and set the various values...
    /idealbb/files/pm3.jpg

If the gmax object has lights, you will need to set the Light to true. You may also need to set the AppearanceZoomFlags (if your prop is big enough to show at zooms 1, 2 etc.). I haven't played with any other values.

Once you've saved it, the prop has a .SC4DESC (as well as a .SC4MODEL) file that is used in the same way as other props.

Set Previewable and Ground Object to true, also most of the time I advise having Query as main building selected to be true as well.
Previewable means when you see the image of the lot before you plop it should show up there.
Ground object makes the object shatter when you demolish the lot, etc.
Query as main building is pretty self-explanatory.

    This is my first prop:

    It's attached to this post.
Please test it out and if you like it feel free to use it in your own BATs/LOTs. 24.gif

Hey Brenda, are you going by the title PALPATION on the official SC site? If not, someone's claiming your monorails as their own....

    /idealbb/files/xne.jpg

I downloaded the lot to see if there was any form of readme, but all you get is the .SC4LOT and .SC4MODEL files. So if you didn't do it (and I suspect you didn't 'cos there are a ton of other lots with the PALPATION ownership) I'd get onto the admins at the simcity site. I did report the lot (but it didn't give me the option of adding some text to explain my concern).

EDIT - There's also one there from Moon Blossom.

I'm very happy to see that my Monorail station is on the most downloaded BATs of all time and is still rated with a 10 5.gif'

In other news my station got translated to German here is a pic of that:
    ModerneMonorail-Station.jpg'

If you want the German version you can get it at SimsZone.de

I also turned my Monorail Station into an El-Train Station for those who dont have monorail in their cities. You can find it Here .

I'm now going to modify my signature aarrg... html.. 14.gif'

One of the things I really like about your monorail is the transparent glass barrier placed around the station edge, they look so much better than ordinary railings on a modern structure. I would love to see others use the same thing on their buildings, were they easy to make??

I have a bit of a strange anomoly to report!

I downloaded your monorail station (a very nice model indeed) and placed it in a few of my cities. I was very happy to see that it was being used near to capacity fairly quickly, untill I used the route query tool! I found that the peopole using the monorail station were indeed just passing through it, and not actually using the monorail!!! This I found very frustrating, and started checking the other places where I had placed your wonderful station. Sure enough, it seems that most of the trafic through the station was indeed not monorail trafic!!! It was more frustrating now as I was trying to make a functional monorail network. I don't seem to be able to get the people to travel on the monorail through your station!. Is there anything you can do? I would fiddle with the station myself if I had a clue what I was doing, but alas I do not, so I rely on someone else to fix the problem.

    Regards,

    LQ

    Lord_Quillian2,

I have a big city in which I replaced all of my monorail stations, not all of them have passengers using the monorail, but some do. It seems like sims prefer to take the bus/subway instead of riding the monorail, reason why I added a monorail only station on my lastest version. If you have the lastest version of my station try using the monorail only station instead. I hope that helps 5.gif

BTW thank you for making the night lighting tutorial, without it I'll be lost 14.gif

Thanks for replying so quickly to my last post. I have heard somewhere (I can't remember where, try asking Ralphealninja or someone) that you can edit the 'exchange cost' I think it is called, that is the preference of transit swaps within a lot! I think it was Ralphaelninja that has a load of experiments with it on one of his threads, perhaps his showcase thread.

I'll try out that monorail only version.

    Cheers,

Just in case you can't find it it's here:

    It was ralphaelninja.

Just to let you know also, check out my thread Shanghai World Financial Center you will find a elevated rail station that I did on the early pages (2-5 or something like that). Comment on the SWFC if you want as well. Comments are valued.

    Cheers and good luck,

An update of my MMSBP(Modern Mono-Sub-Bus-Parking) Station 5.gif

All I can think about right now is that I'm going to have a hard time fitting up the LODs 8.gif

Something I noticed is that OpenGL driver is faster than Direct3D.

The final version will have the trees as props, it will save a lot of render time5.gif

I will continue working on this tomorrow 5.gif
