Developing very large buildings

I am interested in getting some of the very large Projects buildings from the Ghetto Packs (6x6 to 15x15) as well the Bixel behemoths to grow, and I have been having the worst time of it.

I believe I am zoning properly, holding the ctrl key to zone.  Now, am I correct in thinking that if a lot says 7x5, it means the arrows along the road should be 7 wide, and 5 deep?

That being said has anyone here had a better time of growing these massive lots?  Plopping just seems so... easy.  I want these to grow, dag-namit.

Grow stages are fairly high, demand is very high.  I have a few stage 10+ bldgs and a few stage 14-15 so I believe there shouldnt be a glass ceiling here.  Regional Pop is ~340,000, although its mostly in one city.

I have a city with 450000 inhabitants and lots of bixel's creations in it...but they grew up quite easy...sometimes i noticed that even if you zone in an appropriate way, they won't grow up...and I don't why...anyway try to create more cities and jobs...then come back back to your city...it should work now...i think you should get quite high demand to get them growing...hope it works4.gif

You don't have to zone at all for a certain size. Even if you have 3 of 1x3 side by side, quite often, a 3x3 ends up monopolizing the entire space, usually if they are the same wealth level. I think you just need the demand.

I might be wrong in saying this but that doesn't seem like a very high population for huge buildings.

Shouldn't it be closer to a million? I'm no to familar with CAM I just know you need really high population for really high and big buildings.

I don't think you need to get 1000000 inhabitants...the stage of the buildings that are built depends on the regional population of course...but i think that for a stage 13 building you might have a regional population of 600000-700000 inhabitants...check for the CAM and lot counter park on SC4devotion...it will help you!1.gif

I have a good update to my original issue: I have read elsewhere that an option is to de-zone most residential zones in a large city. Demand for residential skyrockets, and puts it into the conditions to grow those very large buildings. I tried it last night.... and it worked!

Gugu3 is also correct, in that chances are much better when you have that many people, but there are execptions. I had just over 300K population and when I demolished the vast majority of residential zones I was able to:

1: Change the layout and zone for very large complexes.

2: Actually had the very large buildings grow.

You must be careful though, as demand for Ind and CS/CO takes a beating. If you don't bring back that lost population quickly you might run into abandonment problems.

To date I have a few Bixel behemoths and 2 very beautiful R$$$ complexes from other creators.
