Activation problems

hello everybody,

I am sorry for putting a technical issue on the general discussion forum but i thought this was the best way in getting a response.

I have just bought cities xl today, but when after i install it and it comes to put the product key into registration thingy it comes back saying the product key has already been assigned or does not exist. Seen as MC have just gone bankrupt ( i didnt realise this at the time of buying the game ) there website has disabled the support section.

Any help is much apprieciated.

If I may ask where did you purchase it? I ask because at this point if I were you I would return it.

My personal feeling would be that at this point since there is no way you will ever receive actual product support would be to go for a refund and then if and when 2011 comes out get it if you so choose.

Slightly off topic but does anyone know if the activation servers are still functional with MC being in bankruptcy?

Multiple double posts, whatever. I am pretty sure that although the login servers are still working, the activation servers are not.

I had believed the policy for all video / computer game purchases in the US was that the game can only be replaced.

so in that case get a refund and buy the new one when it arrives??

However would this still apply to a game that is inherently unplayable because the activation servers are no longer online?  I think whether is applies to this particular case or not it poses a bigger question for the future as this will happen where a company goes out of business and retailers still have product on the shelf.
