Is it possible to temporarily disable the missions part of SC4?

 I don't want to lose the missions completely, but at the moment I'm doing a lot of work on a map and those little blue balloons floating around constantly are bugging me because they always centre on the part of the map that you're centred on. There is nothing in the game options to turn them off so I was wondering if it's possible to just temporarily disable them?

The icons can be turned off through mysims mode - click on the car wrapped in a ribbon, then at the bottom of that menu there should be a button that lets you turn off the icons.
