A quick question about zoning lots

My second post of the day:

When laying out lots by holding the left mouse button and dragging, I'm not getting the "translucent" grid showing me how my lots will be oriented.

I played SC4Deluxe a few years ago, but stopped playing briefly. I just reinstalled tonight, and I can't find out why I'm not getting the gid when placing lots.

Also, I cant find the manual for the game, so does anyone have a link to a list of the hotkeys suitable for printing?

Thanks!

Firstly, an ingame pic would be amazing 4.gif I really dont quite know what your talking about except a mental picture. A couple of suggestions...

Is sticky keys on? That happened to me once. I was all flustered because i couldnt zone, and i found out that it was sticky keys making trouble

Is your terrain high or flat enough? Buildings cant be built in the water or on a 90 degree incline ya know! 3.gif

Also, there is a set of keys that turns zones off (i just remembered this, but i dont feel like erasing the rest, Just in case). Im pretty sure its zoneria. Just hit control x, then type it in.

Hopefully this helps.

Oh and By the way...Welcome to simtropolis! May your days be joyous and ducky 40.gif

Thanks for the reply, and for the welcome!

I'm not really sure if screenshots will help me explain this any better or not, but here goes...

When I attempt to lay out some lots, I position my cursor then hold down the left mouse button. Then I drag over the area I want to zone. On my previous install of SC4D, the lots would display faintly as I dragged the mouse over the area, but now only the streets show up:

    Screenshot

The lots appear only after I release the left mouse button:

This makes it impossible to know how the lots are going to be oriented.

I'm positive it is a display setting, but my own attempts to resove this have been unsucessful...

    My system is:

    Vista Home x64 (SP2)

    DX10

    Radeon HD 4870 x2

    12 GB Ram

    Intel Core i7-920 Quad Core

The path to the game directory is:

    C:\Games\SimCity4Deluxe\

The console command "Ctrl+X>zoneria" only toggles the display of  already existing lots.

    Issue resolved.

I don't know which setting (or combination of settings) was causing this issue, but I went into Catalyst Control Center, and disabled everything in the 3D menu. My lots now display when laying the out.

    Thanks for the help, Z77.

No problem4.gif I didnt know you had ATI though. Buggy little card it is in my opinion. But by the looks of your specs, that seems like a plausible solution. Unfortunately, newer computers dont like running SC4 too well. I had to change my Dual core to run as a single core for it to work properly. And with those specs, it probably just freaked out and didnt show texturing properly. But glad you could get it fixed.

On a side note, if you ever have any questions, check the Omnibus. Excellent source of tips and tricks available for newcomers and oldies alike10.gif And if all else fails, just ask.44.gif
