so?

they have bigger things on their plate right now than worrying about your trust...first and foremost, their jobs.

i dont expect those of you who have never held a real job to understand...so just take it from those of us that have.  you really think they're all sitting around the board room sweating because a few folks that bought the game are not happy with their release of information?  do you expect them to choose the community over themselves...or more succinctly...do you rather they tell you everything to sooth YOUR mind at the risk of jeopardizing the future of the company?

another way to look at it.....what good is your trust if MC are not around to continue development of the game?  exercise some patience.  the fact that they are not here everyday to give you the grity details of what actually goes on during a process like this has absolutely no relevance to their opinion of the community.  they're trying to save their jobs and the CXL project...and your worried about your $50 investment.

im sincerely sorry for the tone of this post....but having gone thru a hard time with my old company, its a bit unnerving to see these types of postings from those who obviously are only concerned with themselves.

At this point that's all we can say unfortunately. Legal bindings prevent us from saying any more for now..

The CMs shurely know what the community wants, what's with your directors, doo they know too what MC should develop in future times? quote>

Again: I can't give more details right now; we'll have to wait and see how things evolve in may.

I understand Gregory, I'm just a little bit nervous about all this. I like the game very much and I hope that everything will be alright some day. But you should understand too that we, the players are very unhappy about this "silence". I hope that now you will listen to the players and implement all of our ideas into the new game. Wish you all the best!

As someone who's ALWAYS been on MC's case about communication (ask anyone who saw me on the development and beta boards), even I have to say that these requests are asking a bit much.

From Gregory's first statement, the company is FOR SALE.  There's no way a company that's looking for a buyer is going to comment on forums and the such.  The risk to any deal being made would be too great.  And the comments would be worthless anyway since a new owner/mgmt. wouldn't be beholden to ANY of the promises of the current MC ownership/mgmt.

From what I gather, right now, players should just be hoping they have a COMPANY in charge of the game in the next few weeks.  Its looking like it comes down to 1) New ownership (with their own direction) or 2) Bankruptcy.

Not fun, for sure...but all you can really focus on right now.

Now is the time where I put on my diplomatic spokesperson hat.

I certainly don't want to discourage good wills, far from it, but let's be direct: we (MC) are in a unusual situation, and although such an open letter  stems from good intentions it may not be the best way to help us; and for two good reasons:

1) We already know most of what will be in this letter. Eventhough we keep a bit of a low profile lately we still follow closely all online activities, we browse the forums everyday and we are well aware of the most common requests.  (and many of them make sense).

2) As some people have rightfully underlined: MC's current priorities have changed a bit (look, the diplomatic spokesperson hat at work) we are looking for new partners to take over Cities XL and our company, and such a letter would be better directed at them. Obviously, as soon as someone ask me who these potential partners are I'll reply that, as we already mentionned, we cannot comment further at this point.. However, you should understand that such potential partners are well informed of our players request as well as our own positions regarding those..

Then what should we do?

Do not give up. Keep on playing, build great cities, have fun on the forum, release great mods. And go outside a bit as well; it's springtime.

As far as MC is concerned we do not give up, but currently MC is 'locked' communication-wise. This is a necessity for now, and this will stay that way for at least another few weeks time for some things to evolve backstage. We hoped that the situation would unlock itself a couple weeks ago, unfortunately it didn't happen, some things just take time to happen. To be continued in the next few weeks...

Hello, everyone.

Thanks for your response, Gregory, and for your hard work on this game.  We at ST wish you the best, and will continue to think a good thought and hope for a good outcome of your current situation.  Fans of the game may continue playing if they desire, and are free to enjoy it as it exists.

I have been absent from the forums for a couple weeks due to health problems.  Thanks to the other moderators for covering this board.

Gregory, the MC spokesperson, has said that an open letter may not be..."the best way to help..."  This is right from the source.  Although I certainly can't stop such a letter from being written, since I know intentions are to help, I would assume that sending this letter would be put on hold as Gregory has suggested.  I would also think this would answer the question in the title of this thread.

Therefore, thread closed.

Thanks for your understanding.
