*NEW* problem after installing EP-1 Update *pic added*

I installed the EP-1 Update and the SC4 Update to fix my nightlighting problems. It worked beautifully....the first time. I tried to open the game up last night and it wouldn't run. I kept getting an error message saying that it couldn't "locate the device, path or file".

I un-installed and re-installed the game. Then I applied the updates again. After this, it wouldn't run the game at all. I still recieved the same error message....so I tried again. UN-install and re-install....re-install updates. Now the updater keeps giving me the error message "failed to rename/delete RTAxxxxx". It also keeps leaving RTA files in my apps folder.

I haven't altered the game and it is the same legal copy of SC4 deluxe that I've had for like 6 years. It is a SKU 1 US version, not a foreign version.

Any help is much appreciated.

I tried to fix it again this morning, still the same results...run the updater...get error message...update closes. See:

I am GUESSING that this is a Win7 problem. Try using Backwards Compatibility Feature to run it:

1. Download and SAVE (DO NOT RUN) the update ".exe"

2. Right click and go into the "Compatibility" tab.

3. Select WinXP under "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"

4. Try running it.

Actually, we have XP (prolly shoulda mentioned that earlier)....we just have a patch installed to make the taskbar look like the one in VIsta. Thanks for the help, though!
