Some tips from a one-week player

I know 1 week isn't an amazing length of time but here's some general tips for newer people which i now know:

1. The way to make most money is not try and produce everything, just focus on a couple of things. For example, in one of my cities i got to 450,000 people and i was in debt, making a loss of 20,000 each cycle because i'd tried producing everything and it just hadn't worked. Now i'm on a city with 530,000 people and i'm making about 600,000 each cycle because i concentrated on offices and, to a lesser extent, high tech.

2. Make it into different clear areas. For example, i built an area with room to build all the residential areas i'll need and then build the offices/high tech buildings close by that they'll all be working for. That way the city is more organised in terms of who is working where and people are less often travelling great distances to work and there isn't one giant residential area for everyone.

3. Tokens can make you a lot of money. I read on here a few days ago that tokens can make a lot of money but i doubted it and went on with my game. But seriously, they were right. Because i have over 150 office tokens sold now and that alone pays my debts nearly, and I have office taxes, plus all other taxes on top of that.

4. Have an idea where you're going to go next - in my city when i get it to 750,000 there's an island in the middle of the map that i plan to go to and there i want to create lots of tall buildings and have it be a bit like new york in that regard. So that's keeping me adding things to my map because I have a goal and it means i build everything keeping in mind where roads will have to be built in future in order to get to the island.
