Cities XL on multiple computers

 I want to buy Cities XL but I'm out of town for a few weeks.  Will I be able to install it on a computer here where I am at and then again on my home computer when I return, or do I need to wait to purchase it until I am home?  Not sure how this works.  Thanks!

To continue on another computer is possible, like with Steam. Save-games will have to be transfered differently, with a USB stick etc.

That is fine , transfering a saved game via usb is no problem....i just want to sure when I go back home I can install the game again on my home computer.

Technically, installing one game on two different machines is piracy. I don't know for sure, but I believe that's what the activation step is meant to prevent. So, you might get home and find that you've already used your installation on the other machine.

Well I don't want to keep it on two machines. I can uninstall it from the first. I in no way want to pirate the game.

That's true; I wasn't trying to imply that you are a pirate. Unfortunately, the tools that companies use to stop pirates can cause problems for legitimate users as well.

Since you have to activate it on the first machine in order to play there, you're basically telling MC that this is the machine where the game belongs. Even if you uninstall it from that machine, you may still need special handling from MC to be allowed to activate it on another machine. I don't know MC's policy on this, but you should just be aware that there might be a need to talk with MC and convince them that you've uninstalled before you're allowed to install on another machine.

Having never tried to move to another machine, I can't tell you whether it's a simple procedure or a difficult one. The most likely reason that they have an activation step as a part of the installation is to make sure that you can't install on another machine. You might want to contact them first, so that you know what will be involved.

They do state on their support pages,

quote "Is it possible to play Cities XL on two different computers?

Yes it is. Once you have created an account you can use it for playing with Cities XL on every computer where the game is installed. If you wish to keep on playing with your cities you will need to back-up and copy your savefiles in the correspondent folder on the new computer."
