Theres a couple good city and or street name generators on the web that I've used in the past that work really well. Unfortunately I can't find the urls to them anymore in my favorites as it's so cluttered with hundreds if not thousands of favorites (junk now really) but I'm sure googling for city name generator or street name generator would turn up some good ones that could be added to this list above.

For industrial cities, I try to use the Latin names of diseases, such as Cirrhosa, Meningini, etc. Another way is to go to a foreign language version of Wikipedia, hit "Random page" and copypaste. Or anagram things you see around you.

Other suggestions: pull some names from your favorite novel (especially sci-fi novels), or pick some names of ancient cities and towns (how does "Byzantium" sound?).

Sometimes, if you pick a "theme" for naming your cities, things get much easier. I've tried this for one region I'm currently working on, and even now I'm still getting new ideas.

But I would never pick Latin names of diseases; it's too obvious for me and I'd rather not gross myself out. [ bleeech! ]
