I have been following this game, but not as of recent. I really wanted to buy the game but was extremely discouraged when I found out that there no was no mass transportation basically. Now that their online subscription has failed and that Single Player has gained Buses, I am wondering if it also has the highways and all the other mass transportation utilities that are essential to a city. I've been trying to read the forums and find the answer but have failed at doing so. Thank you.

There are Expressways, with free-flowing junctions, that look very good, but fill very quickly with traffic and now busses, that I'm still figuring out.

Still no trains , trams, light rail, subway, ferries....

Personally, I love it. Obviously you will hear from a lot of people in here who hate it or at least were very disappointed by the game. So unfortunately I'm not sure that's a question anyone else can answer for you. You just have to decide for yourself based on what it looks like to you and on how much the $40 is to you. Maybe try checking out the CJs? If what you see blows you away, get it. If it just looks "meh" then maybe not.

It does not have rail or any mass transit other than buses at this point. This is a disappointment to me and yet I still find the game well worth playing.

This has probably been asked a million times, so forget redundancy right now. Any date on CXL 2011?

    2011 obviously.. hence the name.

See first comes the announcment, then months latter the release date, the the extended release date, and finally the release.. probably in December 2011.

Actually we just don't know. The 2011 in the name doesn't necessarily mean 2011, as many companies do this for products.

In short we don't know. It's unclear how much this will be a new game. I can see it being anything from a pack of tweaks and additions released in a month or two to a major reworking released a year from now. Who knows.

CXL as it is at the moment is a much better looking "game" but lacks the depth of SC4. There is a lot of talk about CXL 2011 the next Monte Cristo release, every other thread has different ideas of what should be in it.

However for now assume that this will never be released, it may not.

You have to judge CXL on its merits as it stand just now, which I personally thing is very good and with the modding community releasing various bits and pieces, it could well develop without future MC releases.

Mentarman has the best idea, look at the CXL city journals and if you like what you see go for it. CXL is very much what you see is what you get at the moment.

You're quite the smart guy, most games release it a year before the date on the title. Hence Madden 2010 released in 09, MLB 10 released in 09. Use your noggin.
