If you mean, "did focus also buy the original cxl" then yes, it's our understanding that they did.  They're certainly still punting it on steam and taking people's money (although not offering support...)

i doubt Focus will ever offer support for CXL. rather, they'll just say if you want support, you'll have to upgrade (for a price) to the game that we made: CXL 2011. i can see it coming.

If they continue to sell it (which they are) and continue not to even offer activation support (which they're not) then they are essentially criminals as they are knowingly selling a product which is not fit for use.  I can't see that they would want that to be the case.

MC promised us so much that they left out of their final product. The game doesnt work offline, so they basically stole 20 dollars plus taxes from me. I searched for a bypass for weeks with no result. Now I have a useless piece of a game collecting dust. They promised mass transit upon release and left it out on purpose. Then they try to bulk me out of a monthly subscription ( i never pay to play monthly). Now they ended the PO and erased everyones fine city work (slapped in the face), and they sold the game to another publisher. MC lost our trust, and any game named cities xl whatever, I wont ever buy again. How do I know this new publisher wont try the same tricks? Heres how: I dont buy the game. I stick to SC4, the best and most realistic city sim I can get my grubby mitts on and thats that.

I agree with most you're saying, but everyone got a option to transfer PO cities to solo play before PO went down.

I don't have much expectations for CXL 2011 but I'm gonna try it at least.

Yup, through an supported processs of several manual steps.  They could even take the time to code a "Save my cities locally" button.

I'm interested in CXL 2011 but I'm not pre-ordering like I did last time.  Either this new publisher has A LOT of resources or the game is going to be mostly unchanged.

I am so glad that I activated my copy of Limited Edition before MC announced that it was going under (but after the end of the Planet Offer). I optimistically but cautiously look forward to Cities XL 2011 so I will not pre-order it. I still want City Life buildings in any version of Cities XL and I would like to see cranes during construction (which SimCity and City Life had). A good combo would be to display the construction of the City Life zones (from bottom to top like in Cities XL) then building the buildings over the construction zone with a construction texture then the texture changing in chunks before the landscaping and furniture (props) go in. I think that I will try to work on an animation to demonstrate.

I noticed that the streets in City Life have a different scale. I figured that the lanes are 3m wide while in Cities XL they are 5m wide. The buildings were 40x40m and the roads were 20x20m. The lowest capacity roads had large sidewalks and the highest capacity roads had 3 lanes each direction with a small space on each side. 6/20 is 3 remainder 2. Making each lane 3 meters wide and the edge for the lights being 1 meter on each side. The lanes on each road were the same size.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3
