Before I buy this single player

Will the city I build still run offline even in singleplayer?  what I mean is when I come back will the economy still be going because the game calculated for it?

Maybe I'm just looking for a different game.  I just sort of wanted a persistant world economy

its runs yes but wont be earning cash whilst your not playing, continues when start up.

no game i believe runs like that of this genre else you could come back and everyone left due to unemployment etc

Maybe he's thinking of Simcity 4 and the way that it simulates in cities that are connected to other cities. I can't explain it exactly because it's been too long since I've played and know how things work, but in SC4 when you hook up one city to another and maybe build an industrial zone in that other region, as long as you don't open it again, the game will simulate demand and whatever the other thing is for that city towards your played city. Although when you open the other city the next time I think it gets all recalculated and doesn't actually earn anything while you're not playing it.

I've not seen any games that have a true persistant world economy that is calculated when you return to the game which is really the only way it can be done unless you have a server up and running to keep the cities alive, otherwise it simply would have to recalculate what happend in the city since your last visit in which case I know of none that do that.

If you come across a city builder that does that be sure to let everybody know as I'm sure there are many that would be interested.
