Screen Resolution Issues

I have a new wide-screen monidor with a resolution of 1920 x 1080. Sim City isn't taking well to this, and it has no internal setting for 1920 x 1080.

The result is every building looking sorta short and stumpy. Ugly! Plus it makes me dizzy!

What in-game resolution would work best?

Is there anything else I can to to make the game work better?

Thanks!

Moved from General Discussion.

Right click on the SC4 shortcut of your choice (on the desktop, taskbar, start menu, or just do this to all of them) and select properties. Go into the Shortcut tab and look at the Target field. It should look something like this:

"C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4\Apps\SimCity 4.exe"

Change it to this:

"C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4\Apps\SimCity 4.exe"
-intro:off -CustomResolution:enabled -f -r1920x1080x32

Or if you want it windowed, you could do something like this:

"C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4\Apps\SimCity 4.exe"
-intro:off -CustomResolution:enabled -w -r1680x1050x32

Hope this helps. By the way, the -intro:off tag removes that obnoxiously loud intro movie.

Edit: If you have a 64-bit operating system, it will look like "C:\Program Files (x86)\Maxis\SimCity 4\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" instead.

The best resolution to use is 1920x1080.

Right-click the shortcut you use, and add "-CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080" (without quotes) in the Target box.

Thanks so much! With both suggestions, however, it says it's invalid. Any ideas?

    Thanks again!

You didn't edit anything in between the quotes, right ("C:\Program Files... ...SimCity 4.exe")? Have you tried appending just -CustomResolution:enabled -f -r1920x1080x32 to the end? Did you edit the correct field? Have you tried a different shortcut?

This is what mine looks like (from the start menu):

I take this opportunity to ask a question too..

    I have a screen (laptop) which is 1080x800 (quite big eh ? .... ) and actually I play SC4 on a 800x600 window..

What other resolution I can use ? Just to be sure, I want a window, not a full screen.

    Thanks in advance !

    Arthur.
