Afrothunda,

You dropped my jaw, and not many CJ's have been doing that lately. This is absolutely beautiful. That university you created, among other things, is off the hook. You even present your journal in a very pleasing visual manner.

This is great, I will follow it.

Wow, thanks everyone for the great comments... I will have an update of the downtown area of Kunimura tonight when I get home from school, I will also have some more pics of the area around Volks Lake. Along with an updated region shot.

blangjr21: I would love to have a much more green campus, although realisticly I dont have a 1/3 of the parking a real campus has. When I am at school and I look out the window all I see for at least 1/4 of a mile is the sun gleaming off the winshields of a million cars.
The Great Chozo: Thanks very much for your kind words, it means a lot to hear people like your work, but... I wish I was better at photoshop and knew how to create awesome maps and everything, but this is only my first journal and I suppose I will get better, I really never thought that this would become such a viewed journal.

Well thanks a lot for the comments, I will have an update later tonight I promise! Thanks again.

Alrights this is another update (03/26/04) Its been a few days since I have posted and im sorry for that, but this will be a pretty big update. This update concentrates on Downtown Kunimura, however it only shows the very early stages of kunimura from about 1940-1960.

The landscape of Kunimura is not ideal for a Downtown area, it has a steep incline, so this made for some interesting building, I am trying to stick away from gridlock... so without further a do, here is the first stages of Downtown Kunimura.<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/9.gif>

This photo shows Lower Kunimura Manor, a rich little neighborhod. This photo was taken in the summer of 1945.

This phot shows Jasmine Prkwy leading up to the Kunimura Captial Building. This amazing structure was completed on May 23, 1952. This capital building handles all the important matter of the city of Kunimura and the entire region.

Alright well thats all for now, I hope you enjoyed this update, I do not have school today so I might have another update. Please... I really enjoy comments and questions so if you have any please just say something. Thanks a lot.

Wow Afro, this is a truly brilliant journal. The city rivals some of the greatest I've seen on Simtrop. The campus is great, why not try surrounding it with some parks if that area is still undeveloped, PEG's trail parks are on the LEX if you haven't already checked them out. Like the downtown area too, its got a few memorable sites which makes a city interesting, like the colourful jasmine parkway and the capitol building. Its nice to see character rather than scraper forest growing <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/1.gif>

Hey, I just wanted to say that I will have an update later today, I will be showing some of area suburbs, and maybe even the Volks Lake Beach Resort.

Llama_Sim: Thanks, the lots in the middle of the park way are some of pegs finest, you can find them on the LEX if your interseted.
wolverine: Im not sure how it is at other colleges, but at mine the underclassmen dorms are a ghetto, its terrible, meanwhile the upperclassmen have suits in the local hotels... it doesnt seem fair to me...32.gif
WoodMan: Wow, thanks for the kind words... but I dont think this is anywhere near the greatness of most of the Cj's on Simtrop, but thanks it means a lot to hear a comment like that. I was thinking about putting parks around the campus but then I decided to put some R$$$ low density around... but there is still some more room so I will probable fill that with some parks, i'll show another shot of the campus and the city of Theivery in a few days incase anyone is interested.

Thanks a lot everyone for the comments, check back later today for an update!

This update (03/28/04) will concentrate on the eastern suburb of McNally Ridge. There are updated region shots in the my first post. This update is from the years 1970-1982.

McNally Ridge is a small rich town, it has about 13,000 residents. Its located to the east of the capital Kunimura. McNally Ridge also houses the areas largest area Country Club, the Kunimura Power Authority, McNally Shopping Center and also last but not least the Dead Forest Lumber Corp. shipping center. McNally is also has a largre train yard that ships goods into Kunimura.

Here at the McNally Country Club you can enjoy a 400 yard driving range, one of the many private pools, one of many private tennis courts, or perhapes you can enjoy playing cards, and drinking with buddies, business partners... or any other partners in our state-of-the-art club house... Or if thats not enough, why not play the front nine and the back nine?

The area I will show next is the Kunimura Power Authority, located in McNally this plant feeds about 68% of the entire region of Kunimura. It also takes in nearlly 2,000 tons of garbage a day.

Here are some stats on the region as of today....
    Residential~ 173,106
    Commercial~ 77,040
    Industrial~ 12,166

Breaking news devoloped over the course of last night...

Mayor a. Thunda has resigned from office... read on in this Kunimura Translation news paper clip...

    /idealbb/files/newpaperhttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files/newpaper%20copy.jpg border=0>

As you can see the general population is not happy, not only did they love their dear mayor, the newly apointed R. Cooley is a skank, a cheat, dishonest and sleezy. He has no idea of economics, business relations or any fundamental building block a mayor should have. What is in store for Kunimura will mayor Cooley ruin the great region A. Thunda has built? Or will he do wonderful things...? Like the advisors said... the sims will be able to vote next election, but the next election isnt until november of 1974... almost a year and a half away.

Stay tuned... I will have un update later today maybe tomorrow. Comments are more then welcome! Thanks a lot everyone.

Thanks everyone for checking my CJ out, I was really hoping to get a better response from my recent posts... but oh well I guess. I just wanted to let everyone know that I will update sometime tomorrow.

I have been working on farming areas; after the new mayor has declared a huge tariff or tax on imported goods to Kunimura... The amount of low wealth jobs have increased and the locals do not seem to be taking to the new mayor very well. Kunimura which previously relied on many imports is now forced to produce its own food, lumber and all of the other reasources needed by the city.

Well check back tomorrow for a decent update, I would really like to see some replys and comments. Thanks a lot.

don't worry about not getting many replies.  it happens to me all the time.

i like where this is going.  but i do have a question to ask.

you say that the region has been taken over by a sleazebag.  but why would the citizens elect an idiot for office?  and according to John Locke, if the government doesn't provide its half of the deal, then the people have the right to overthrow the leaders of that government.  its called social contract.

you think in the near future we'll see riots?

    i hope i haven't blown the ending...

keep up the creative edge.  it works well.

    Thanks for the comments...

n74704: The people werent able to vote due to the suprise resigning of Formr Mayor A. Thunda. The panel of advisors in order to keep a mayor named at all times (stated in Kunimura law section N-74704- Mt-153) ...haha just made that up... So the people arent able to vote until the next election which is in November of 1974 almost a year and a half later. It stiniks but thats the way the orginal law was writen back almost 100 years ago.

Well I hope this clears everything up... Expect an update later today. Thanks again for checking this out.

Thank you villarule, its my first CJ so I am still getting used to editing my photos and all but I am pretty pleased with how things have turned out so far. I never thought I would get this many veiws and responses. Thats really what makes this CJ worth while. I will probably start another CJ when Kunimura is done and I hope that will be much much better. But thanks to you and everyone else for making this a successful CJ. I should say thanks to all the great modders, baters and lot makers who have made all the great things for simcity and really made this game a million times better! Thank you!

Alright thanks everyone for the responses. This update (03/31/04) will concentrate on the very young, but very powerful Lumber Industry.

The newly apointed Mayor Cooley has sold a large portion of land located in Black Rock Forest, to the north east of downtown Kunimura to a privatly onwed company. Dead Forest Industries (DFI) have set up a Lumber Camp and has started to harvest Kunimuras finest. Enviromentalist are outraged at the first actions of the new mayor. Dead Forest Industries (DFI) has set up shop and has been in operation for a few months now. DFI has also set up a satilite location in McNally Ridge (see above post).

    /idealbb/files/LEntrance.jpg
This photo taken on 05/16/73 show the entrance of the newly built DFI plant.

    /idealbb/files/Lum1.jpg
This photo shows two of the large shipping yards of the DFI plant, it also shows some storage of raw lumber.

    /idealbb/files/Lum2.jpg
This photo shows an arial show of the entire plant, about 3 weeks after it opened.

    /idealbb/files/Lum3.jpg
This photo shows one of the two saw mills located at this site, a portion of the second can be seen above the first. The second is much larger in size and can process nearly 1,000,000 feet of lumber in 24 hours if it had to.

    /idealbb/files/CWHBefore.jpg
This photo shows the Common Wealth Housing site, this will provide housing to the men and women who will work at the DFI plant. There will be schooling, shopping and many other fun activites on site.

    /idealbb/files/FHbefore.jpg
This photo shows the area where harvesting will first take place.

    /idealbb/files/Limits.jpg
This photo shows the limits of DFI, there are not to cross this line in there harvesting or they will face a harsh penalty and lose their harvesting ability.

Alright well thats all for right now, I just wanted to introduce DFI. I will have more pics later on as the plant grows. Next week Thursday I am going away for spring break so I will not have any updates for a while after that, but I plan to update a lot before that, I need to get my SimCity fix before I go.22.gif Well I hope you enjoyed this, please comment and thanks for checking this out!

Update (04/02/04): Alright thanks for the comments everyone. As promised this update will concentrate on the very young port city of Hottentot. As Kunimura grows in the 70's and early 80's there is a growing need to have a hub where imported goods can be shipped to the city, and where exported good and be shipped out, it was clear to the newly apointed Mayor Cooley that Hottentot was the clear choice.

    /idealbb/files/H11.jpghttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files/H11.jpg border=0>
This photo shows the Hottentot Wild Life Reserve in the year of 1958, Former Mayor Thunda has drew up plans for this port well before Mayor Cooley took over office. Mayor Cooley is trying to use this port as a boost in the political race.

    /idealbb/files/H8.jpg
This photo in January of 1974 shows the newly constructed section of the port, In order to keep ahead of demand there have been two new ship bays added... There is also a peir planned for this area.

    /idealbb/files/H9.jpg
This photo was also taken in Janurary of 1974 a little further down then the previous.

    /idealbb/files/H10.jpg
This photo shows the newly constructed Kunimura Port Authority or KPrA. This office is responsable for keeping the waters of Kunimura safe and enjoyable.

    /idealbb/files/H111.jpg
This photo shows KPrA at night, these lights welcome ships travling through the recently opened Black Rock Canal. The Black Rock Canal will be shown in closer depth later on but I will give you some brief information on it now. The canal was opened on Janurary 1, 1974 it took 4 years to build. It cost the Government of Kunimura 10 billion dollors to build. 4 people lost their lives digging the canal. Now that the canal is open an average of 12 ships travel its 30 mile long water way daily. Ships from nearly every country of the sim world travel through it in order to reach there destination.

Alright well thats all for now, this weekend I will be pretty busy but I will try to give you all an update of the canal and the port and maybe we'll find out what happenes to Mayor Cooley. Thanks again for checking this out and please comment, good or bad I like to hear what you have to say. Thank you.

Alright, I forgot to mention this before but I just wanted to thank peg for all his crazy hard work, I love these lots he has done and I think he has really out done himself. He has done so much for SimCity and ST, and I dont think I would play this game if it wasnt for the things he has done. He such a great LOT/BAT builder and a great guy too, so with that said this update is in his honor. Great work peg keep it up, I cant wait to see what you come up with next!21.gif

Simtropolis depends on donations to fund site maintenance costs.
Without your support, we just would not be in our 24th year online!  You really help make this a great community. *:thumb:

But we still need your support to stay online. If you're able to, please consider a donation to help us stay up and running. This helps sustain a platform where we can share our community creations for years to come.

    STEX Collections

By way of a "Thank You" gift, we'd like to send you our STEX Collector's DVD. It's some of the best buildings, lots, maps and mods collected for you over the years. Check out the STEX Collections for more info.

Each donation helps keep Simtropolis online, open and free!

Thank you for reading and enjoy the site!
