maps?

 As a long time Sim City user, the thing I miss most trying to switch over to CXL is that the options for maps are so limited. I used to always make custom maps in SC4 and download traded ones. I hate not being able to create a cool place to build a city before starting in on the city itself. Does anyone know if there is any thought about doing this in the future even in solo mode only? I can't find any info at all.

There is a way to make custom maps.

A modder from CXS did upload a new Map a few days ago. (just a flat terrain)

But it is a lot of work to create a custom map and at the moment the file format is just roughly described.

There are a lot of missing things like water height, the forest, some meanings of textures, and so on.

So, it is possible but don't expect a tool or something similar at the moment.
