A couple of questions...

I'm not totally certain that this is the right place to post this, but I don't have a lot of time right now.

Firstly, I downloaded "Simcity 4 Extra Cheats Plugin.dll" but I can't get it to work.  I followed a set of instructions I found as best I could but it doesn't seem to have activated.  The instructions were for the windows version of the game, but I went through the equivalent folders in the hopes that it would work.  How can I activate plugins like extra cheats for the mac version of the game?

Secondly, I have noticed that while there are various different farms, Pumpkin Acres never seems to upgrade into them, the better farms are build from an empty lot.  Do agricultural buildings ever grow on their own like residential, commercial, and industrial buildings or is the only way to get a new farm to bulldoze the old one?

For your first question, youre out of luck. The extra cheats file is a .dll, which is a windows only format it will never work on a mac no matter what folder its in 8.gif The only way to get it to work on a mac is if you have something like Paralells Desktop that runs Windows.

Agricultural Buildings do grow on their own, they just take longer to do so. Bulldozing the old one is usually faster than wating for it to grow.

The extra cheats dll - because it's a dll - won't work on a mac, period. The good news is, very few plugins are dll's ... in fact this is the only one I can think of. There are a few utilities around which of course only work on Windows, but those don't need the game running, so you can run them anywhere e.g. in a virtual machine, emulator, etc....

Farms do initially grow on their own, but they NEVER upgrade. If you want to see a newer, higher-stage farm, you have to zone for it (once you have enough farm already established to warrant the higher stages... which isn't very hard anyway) or bulldoze an existing farm. Note that the latter could in theory drop your farm population below the stage limit you're trying to reach in the first place though.

Would there happen to be a mac version of the extra cheats plugin that you know of?

What are the requirements for the higher-level farms?  I've heard low traffic and clean air are big factors but those are the only two I know.  Two of my cities are farm communities but they're full of pumpkin acres and there's a job shortage in each.

The only thing required for higher-stage farms is more farms, takes a few thousand farm jobs before the stage-3 (max) appear. You might wish to download some custom farms, ihaka has a nice add-on set for convenience. Without any custom farms, stage 3 means just one farm: the infamous Pedriana's Plants. It's actually not so terribly ugly, but when you have a town full of nothing but those it's just hideous.

Stage limits (for all, including farms aka "IR")

Farms are sensitive to traffic, but that's about it. They don't require water, fire protection, or any other civic services.

Note: there are some custom farms which do have more requirements, including water and even parks, but most of them are part of the CAM.

That website Spinmaster linked to is SC4Devotion, it holds many good downloads and forums. Think of it as ST's cousin (it's not but heck let's do that). It would be a good idea to make an account there.
