1A: Introduction

the goal is to be able get a city of 100,000 and more in about an hour or two.

2A: Legal Notes

This guide is free to be used by anyone so long as I recive credit. This document may be changed with permission from the orginal author.

3A: Requirementsuirements/Recomend Req.

This guide is writen as I used the following to create my 'rapid growth' cities:

-Simcity4

-I presume you have at least this, in order to play (Required).

-Rush Hour Expansion (Deluxe Edition)

-Highly recomended for great features.

-Network Addon Mod (NAM)

-Almost like a whole new expasion pack itself, there are so many great things

within this mod, recomended for maxium play.

-Road Top Mass Transit

-This gives you ablity to plop bus stops, subway stops and bus stops/subway on your road top transportation networks. You can get by without this but it saves space and very useful if you plan on making a "New York" like city (which this guide will do).

-LBT's Hosptial & Police Pack

-They provide great coverage and capacity plus one of them is free and needed!

-Turn Off Urgent Messages/Alerts

-With this you wont be bothered every 5 seconds from your advisors from the horrible condtions you're going to create.

-Turn Off Go To Auto Disaster

-You'll get some fires maybe even a riot and personally having it zoom down and stop what you're doing to go to it messes me and my computer up. Just using the go to disater button works just as well without the zooming in and stoping what you're doing.

By Maxis By Maxis By NAM Team V2.1 By Dark Matter By LBT -Industry Quadrupler V2.1 (X4 Setting) By Toroca

Though it is very possible to make a rapid growth city without most of those you may find it harder than it should be and a lot of what will be in my guide will become worthless. also be sure to read the read-mes that come with some of those above mentioned. Because in this guide I'm going to presume you have done so and understand how to use them and some of the limitations/bugs/issues they can/may cause.

4A: Getting Started

Alright, lets get started shall we? Since you can play on three different levels on this game things that apply strickly to easy shall have one "X" next to them. Things that can be used on easy but are recomened for normal shall have two "X" next to them. Things that can be used on easy or normal but are suggested for hard shall have three "X" next to them. Some suggestions though will only apply to a certin level and as such I will let you know by including at the start: "(Recomened for Easy/Normal/Hard Only)"

    1B: Pick Your City

It doesn't matter what size you pick for this but I do recomend a normal size city for this, with a lot of flat land as will be the base for this guide.

    2B: Pick Your Level

-Easy: Start off with 500,000, easy growth.

-Normal: Start off with 300,000, growth is a little more picky.

-Hard: Start off with 100,000, growth is hard to please (pardon pun).

    3B: Life Started With Fireworks

Alright after the fireworks that come from no where, we can start!

X (Easy Settings) Step One: With 500,000 to work with, lets get busy! Lets start by picking the road tool (no streets) and lets zone a nice grid that is 6 tiles apart each. Then every 6 streets draw an avenue and don't forget to have roads leading to your neighbours. Do this until your cash gets to about 200,000. When done, it should like something like this:

XX (Normal Settings) Step One: With 300,000 to work with, we still got a lot! Lets start by picking the road tool (no streets) and lets zone a nice grid that is 6 tiles apart each. Then every 10 streets draw an avenue and don't forget to have roads leading to your neighbours. Do this until your cash gets to about 100,000. When done, it should like something like this:

    -Reserved for picture-

XXX (Hard Settings) Step One: With 100,000 to work with, we ned a loan! Take a 200,000 loan out, I know don't worry, it will get paid back! Lets start by picking the street tool (no roads yet) and lets zone a nice grid that is 6 tiles apart each. Then every 10 streets draw an avenue and don't forget to have streets leading to your neighbours (at the very tips draw raods so they can go to the neighbour then connect streets to them). Do this until your cash gets to about 150,000. When done, it should like something like this:

    -Reserved for picture-

XX (Easy & Normal Settings) Step Two: Now all along the avenues we will zone medium welth comerical zones in 2 by 3 zones. Then add residential zones also 2 by 3 and lastly in the very centers, add some high dense industrial in 6 by 6. It should look something like this:

XXX Step Two: Now all along the avenues we will zone low welth comerical zones in 2 by 3 zones. Then add residential zones also 2 by 3 and lastly in the very centers, add some low dense industrial in 6 by 6. It should look something like this:

    -Reserved for picture-

XX (Easy & Normal Settings) Step Three: In one of your industrial zones, add a natrual gas power plant. Then in a residential area add two water pumps and don't forget to draw your water lines. Now let it run on speed three for a little bit and in no time you should have a slum growing. Some dense buildings will start to come (low wealth maybe a few middle wealth but they will quickly downgrade) if you got single homes growing everywere plop a small park here and there for demand and it should take care of that. Return to regular speed and notice your growth Mr. Slum Mayor, if you did it right you should be making a bit of a profit now huh? If not zone more and you soon will.

XXX: Step Three: In one of your industrial zones, add a coal power plant. Then in a residential area add one water pump (make sure you're far away from that coal plant) and don't forget to draw your water lines. Now this can be tricky because of the loan and you may find yourself needing another loan, if so take between 50,000-100,000 and make sure you pause. Then zone more! You should have enough residents and jobs to give enough tax money to keep you postive. Last mesure is to raise taxes some but don't go crazy! You can raise ID to 9.3-9.5% with little or no effect. Residential I wouldn't raise more than 9.3%. And comerical no more than 9.2%. If you notice a sudden drop in any demand than lower the taxes until the drop is either at 0 (which is fine) or postive but make sure you never make taxes cause negative demand! Also if you get negative rewards offered to you only take the Army Base and or the Federal Prision and put them on the edge of your city near the ID if possible. Don't place them on top of buildings though because that is money you don't want to waste on these buildings! Also don't forget to make gambling legal, it may only be 100 bucks but every penny counts and if you need the casino for even more of acash boost this is required for it. Your city and bugets should look something like this:

    -Reserved for pictures-

    4B: Service Please?

XXX (Can be used on all levels): At this point if you want more money just leave it on speed three for a while. Once you feel you have enough (200,000 should be more than enough though) it's time to give your city some services. You should have unlocked the larger schools if not, repeat steps one and two until you do. Plop your school so that you cover as much of your city as possible, depending on how big you made yours feel free to use more than one if needed do this with libaries as well. Now adjust the funding to somewhere in the middle (schools spent striking are schools not helping I.Q). Keep a close eye on your money anytime you're not making money always repeat steps one and two, three is needed.

XXX Hard Notes: Though you can use the above ways on Hard as well, be very careful because unless played right and watched closely this could kill your budget with little hope of repair. One or two small elementry schools might be better but again, will have to watched closer but save you more money. So either path is fine but I recomend this one more for Hard.

XXX Note For All: Tash will be a big factor in a hurray so I recomend making a city next door that is nothing but a landfill (eventually it will oblertrated so don't worry).

    -Reserved for picture-

XXX (Can be used on all levels): Let it kick back on speed three for a while and watch your city poll on education soar! Some middle wealth sims will start sneeking back in a even staying also a little bit of manufacturing demand should appear (very small) if so... you're on the right track! Now lets keep those sims living longer because I'm sure breathing in bad air hasn't been to good for them and living in a bad area isn't to safe either. So, build a hopsital. I recomend LBT's Universty Clinic because it has great cpacity and radius and best of all, it cost nothing! So plop it and slide coverage and capacity to the max! Plop as many as you need to cover the city area you made. Let it run on three for a while and again watch your health soar and watch your demand for cleaner higher paying jobs go up as well. Don't forget to let it play for a while on speed three so you get money for the next service! And zone more! You should be noticing some big changes in demand. Your city should look something like this.

    -Reserved for picture-

XXX (Can be used on all levels): Now lets get some police and fire protection and make this city safe! Plop the third smallest police station from LBT's police stations in your city, you may need more than one depending on city size and don't forget a prison on the outskirts or in your ID area. Also a fire station or more if needed. If you got some areas lacking coverage don't worry, so long as you get about 90% you'll get the full boost. Let run on speed three and watch the dramtic changes, ID should be leaving andslightly less poluting Mufacturing jobs should be replacing them and better comerical jobs and middle wealth homes should be growing as well.

    -Reserved for picture-

X Easy Note: Growth should be sky rocking as compared for Hard or Normal.

XXX Note For All: Now is a good time to use rewards, plop them as you get them!

    4B: I Can't Breathe!

    4C: Other Notes

If I forgot to give anyone any credit please contact me and let me know and I'll be sure to fix that. Or any suggestions or something else, let me know too.

XXX (Can be used on all levels): At this point land value should be in the middle or greater but the enviroment should be almost all red. Parks to the rescue! Plop a few open grass areas in different spots they do great work for demand and cost almost nothing! You should also be getting some High Tech Demand which is good because as you expand out that is what will grow as Maunfactoring jobs replace the ID in the center of your city.

XXX Note For All: Do the following ordiences if your budget allows, in order of inmportance:

    -Clean Air

    -Communter Shuttle Service

    -Carpool

    -Pro Reading Campagin

    -Junior Sports

X Note For Hard: Get rid of that Coal plant and place a Natural Gas Power Plant (if you don't enough money, let it run on setting three for a while then zone more and let it run for a while again), also if your budget allows start getting rid of any bad rewards you may have built. Also change your streets into roads.

    5B: I'm Taking The Bus!

XXX (Can be used on all levels): Remember that road top mass transit? Time to use it! Lets start cheap and just plop some bus stations on the roads and avenues. Don't do it every block, that's silly and not needed. Every other block at most. People will start taking the bus helping commute times and bringing you a little extra coin on the side!

Side Note: Don't got road top mass transit? Well you can plop bus stops the old fashioned way but you'll be losing the valuable space for building and it cost to tear down buildings for the bus stops and if you're having money trouble still (for whatever reasons) then you might not want to do that.

1C: Wash, Rise, Repeat. Always... Repeat...

At this point, you're done! Do the following and you'll be fine and see continued growth just:

    -Remember to keep zoning

-Remember to place your bus stops

    -Remember to place parks

    -Remember to keep provding services

    -Remember to watch your budget

-Remember to lower taxes some if money is good

-Remember that as space gets filled make it high dense

-Remember to repeat these as needed

    2C: More Than One Way

Remember this guide can be applied in many ways. You don't have to always start out in a grid, you can use curved roads, highways, whatever you like but the formula after that baiscly stays the same. Here are some different setups for your city you can try if a grid is too boring for you:

    -Reserved for pictures-

As you can see, the possiblities are almost endless!

    3C: Q & A

-Reserved for answering common questions/concerns I may get-
