Ok to start off this thread this is my question: How do I have a birthday party thats not a birthday party? I need an anwser because im trying to find a way for one of my friends to go to my birthday party without her religous views interfering.

You're friend's a Jehovah's Witness, isn't she.

Yeah, the problem here is that birthday parties are frowned upon as self-worship, in violation of the first commandment. So, if you want her there, you're going to have to make the party not about your birthday. No recieving gifts, no singing, etc. Say it's about thanking god for your friends or something.

Then again, I don't know your friend and I don't know that that will necessarily be good enough for her. I'm inclined to think that someone being properly faithful would also frown upon trying to mask your birthday party as something else in order to get them there, and unless they're utterly stupid would easily see through the trickery.

I'd recommend just letting this one go, personally.

If you rally want to have a party, have someone else throw it for you. This relieves any shadow of first commandment issues. At the same time it can be called something else like a survival celebration. You have survived another year, you know.

Or you can just ask  her to come. Mabey she's wont realy care, after all its not her birthday shes just attending, friendship may over ride the religious thing.

Who knows she may be tolerant of others views
