Hello everyone I'm a new member here. I joined this site so i might be able to download new content, learn more about the game (and maybe even pick up on some modding), and overall increase the fun of playing SC4.

I'm currently in the process of reading many threads, and I'm also trying to get my profile on the SC4 EA website set up so i can download more patches/tools. However, for some reason it says that my serial number has already been registered (I have deluxe edition). Any thoughts on why that would happen?

Also, if I may ask, what mods/addons do you recommend? I've now just vaguely heard of NAM...

Thanks for all the help, and I hope to get accustomed to ST soon!

First off, welcome to ST!

Everything at the official EA site is mirrored elsewhere. You can get most of the stuff (without registering) here.

To a newcomer, I'd advise the NAM and its subprojects LINK

The NAM (Network Addon Mod) can be found here:

WINDOWS VERSION: LINK

MAC VERSION: LINK

Before installing, please read the "Read Me First" file. It explains many questions and contains installation instructions.

Also, I advise a terrain mod (changes the look of the terrain), a water mod (changes look of water), and any buildings that look good or useful.

Enjoy the site!

Vince

I don't know what to put here anymore.

If your making a rural region you could get the Rural Highway project. This uses a "dirt road" that maxis never put into the final version of the game, however it is still installed with it, just hidden. This mod unlocks it and changes the look so that with the use of starter pieces (the same used for draggable GLR or HSR (coming next)) allowing you to make up to 10 lane Highways!!! but if your clever and adapt it you can make anything you want! This mod also includes something called MIS (modular interchange system) that allows you to create virtually any junction you want!!

RHW (Windows) (Mac

Next, High Speed Rail!

This mod changes the look of the monorail to a more realistic high speed rail system!! But the advantage of having a Starter piece is that you can still use monorail!

You may want to download some stations and maybe a reskin for your monorail trains. All this can be found by typing "high speed rail" into the STEX search box.

Thats all you really need to know about HSR exept that its here for windows and here for mac

Finally just a little more on the NAM :-

(The following about NAM is a standardised answer to save time, i will normally customise it but if i missed something i apologise)

NAM (network addon mod) is a fantastic mod.

It gives you a ton of new content (trams, tram in road, tram in street, tram in avenue, el rail over road, roundabouts, highway interchanges, and much much more!!)

Also you can install something called a "traffic simulator" this can change capacities of all the networks and increase the distance sims travel to something more realistic. I would choose "simulator Z" as this is the best option (more capacity, longer distance, more use Mass transit)

It is handily available on the "popular" section in the STEX (top of the first page)

There is a new one every few months.

REMEMBER to read the read me's!!!  And read the installer otherwise you can make a real mess.

Most importantly, if you have a LHD "left hand drive" version of the game then install the LHD plugin (included and activated on a tick box page in the installer). If you dont you are in alot of trouble!!!

Finally, NAM requires either SC4RH (sim city 4 rush hour) or deluxe to work properly.

Thats all Good Luck!!

P.S check out the Omnibus for cool ideas!
