CD key doesn't work

I'm in Australia and my copy of Cities XL arrived today.

The installation goes ok until game registration time. When I enter the CD key it is rejected with this message:

"supplied CD code doesn't exist or is already assigned"

The game arrived sealed.

I have tried reinstalling but now I am caught in a loop where they won't accept my user name etc.

This is extremely frustrating. Looking at the forum here this product seems to have a host of issues.

Oh for the days when life was simple. We purchased our games, took them home and played them.

Now it appears I will have to jump through endless hoops and endure hours of frustration before I get to see the game.

Not happy.

Have you tried contacting MC support or the vendor you got it from? Certainly there's a way to get a new one. Either way, there's not much you can do legally outside of going through them. So I would be careful about asking for help here. MC or the vendor are pretty much your only options here.

I agree though, CD keys are frustrating.

Sorry, I see your point but thanks for your reply.

I have sent info to MC including a copy of my invoice.

I am a dude who purchases all my games. It is extremely annoying not being able to register my game with the key supplied by MC in the Mayors Handbook.

The trouble with all these security aspects is genuine purchasers like me get punished and frustrated.

Okay I finally got the CD key to work. It tried reinstalling but that didn't work.

I went to the website and registered there and the CD key worked.

The key wouldn't work when I was using the prompts at the end of installation.

Maybe it was a gremlin but I don't know.

Anyway I'm happy now and I like what I have seen so far. The graphics and ground level views are pretty good.
