Patching

When I enter my password at the splash screen I am asked to click install which I do. Nothing happens.

I have done some investigating and found that version.cfg reports build 297 but the patch file that the game has downloaded is 315 to 363. I guess thats why the update fails. I suppose that I could alter version.cfg but are the patches cumulative? If not, how do I get the earlier patch(es)?

BTW, i have contacted MC support but have not had so much as an acknowledgement.

I don't think its cumulative. At least until they release a 'service pack'. When I look at the update screen I can see that it needs to sequentially update (361 to 361b to 362.. etc). Whats annoying with this in Windows 7 is that each time a build updates I need to give administrative privilege to each of those updates.

Is there anywhere I can download the patches individually outside the game?

I had a similar problem on XP:

    www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm

The updates run from a batch file called updater.bat.  If this fails, it does so silently and you just get nothing happening.

You will find the patches under documents and settings (full path is in the linked thread) - I think they should all be there.

Copy them into the game folder (this is important, as they need to be able to see the current version) and run them from there - worked for me.

changing Version.cfg doesn't seem to do anything, nor hacking the registry entries.
