Crashing to Desktop

hi im new and have seached all over the web for a solution i have tried so much stuff setting only 1 cpu to run cant even set that and all drivers upto date on my system but loading sc4 i get past the intro video then next loading screen i just go back to desktop no restart and no errors im running an asus m3a32 board with amd phenom quad 9950blk with 9600gt grahpics 8gb ddr2 1066 memory and running windows vista ultimate 64 thats system details you need i think

please hopefully someone can help

If you have a wide screen monitor, you may need to try a custom resolution.  Add this tag to the shortcut you use to start the game:

"C:\Program Files\Simcity 4\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -CustomResolution:enabled -r1440x900x32 -f -intro:off

-w = windowed
-f = full screen
-r = resolution

Add a space after the quotation marks of the path. and one after each tag.  Use a resolution your monitor can display.

You must start the game with the shortcut at least once for the change to take effect.

You may also want to try the following:

Right Click Desktop screen

Click 'NVIDIA Control Panel'

Pick 'Adjust image settings with preview' from the '3D Settings' menu item

then make sure you have "Let the 3D application decide" chosen and this will pick the best Graphics Card settings that NVIDIA recommend for the Sim City 4 game.

And you don't even need to turn any thing off before hand, it just runs like normal instead, also seems a little quicker.
