The Braves: I'm going to assume that since you're from outside of North America that you're not familiar with the idea of an "Indian Brave". Native American warriors. It's a fitting name for a team if you realize that.

The Cards: is not the actual name of the team. They're the Cardinals, people just call them the "Cards" for short. If you don't know what a cardinal is, it's a type of bird. There are several baseball teams named after birds. I have no idea why.

The Phillies: Stems from the fact that they're from the city of Philadelphia, which is called "Philly" for short. Pluralize that and you get "Phillies".

The Angles: First of all, it's "Angels", not "Angles". You know, heavenly things flying around in the clouds with harps? As for why you'd name a team that, well, they're from the city of Los Angeles, commonly nicknamed the "City of Angels". Why? Well, "Los Angeles" is Spanish for "The Angels" (and it's technically only part of the name of the city, but that's another story).

The Padres: "Padre" is Spanish for "Father". The name refers to the Fathers (that is to say, priests) who founded the city of San Diego where the team plays.

The Blue Jays: another bird name. Don't ask, just go with it.

On the other topic.... guys, the plural of "ninja" is "ninja". Japanese lacks distinction between singular and plural, so all Japanese nouns are identical whether referring to one of them or a million of them.

"Los" is a the Spanish masculine plural definite article. "The Los Marlins" translates to "The The Marlins" (hence, redundant). It's either "The Marlins" (English) or "Los Marlins" (Spanish). Never both at the same time.

Eh. Anaheim is a suburb of Los Angeles. They're the Los Angeles Angels. And more importantly, the explanation of their name doesn't make sense if you say they're in Anaheim.

If I had to guess, I'd say they were probably well aware of the correct pluralization but intentionally went with the incorrect one because if they just called it "Surf Ninja", people would mistakenly think that there was only one ninja in question.

This is one of those things where everyone gets it wrong and only nerds like me notice or care.

I like racing games. Mario Kart was pretty good. I used to play San Francisco Rush for the N64. That one was fun. You had to collect stuff that was hidden in weird places. I enjoyed it.
