How about an online version of SC

If SC5 or SimCity Societies isn't a good idea (or an idea that wouldn't work in the gaming industry) then why don't they come out with an online version of SimCity?

I was thinking about having it where players can pick a plot for their city and create their own terrain based off of a few presets that the admins make (aka all green terrain, green to brown terrain; sea level, or mountainous terrain). This way players can make deals with each other and create a business in their city and expand it to other cities for more of a profit for their city. This way mayors can compete against each other and make the game more of a multi player type of game.

Of course, if I were making the game, I would keep the "non violent and no bloodshed" nature of SimCity with it so it wouldn't be anything like Age of Empires and the such. So it wouldn't be about who could take over the most city plots or anything, just who can make the most prosperous city or nation. It could be an alliance thing where multiple cities can create an alliance with each other and help each other grow and they can compete with other nations on their world.

Lastly, it could be formatted where when a city goes bankrupt another player can come in, take over the plot, and start a whole new city. This way players are rotated and the game doesn't get boring.

Please bring in your ideas, commentary, approval, or dismay about a game.

i've always thought that this should have been done in sc4. they tried to mimic this with the simcityscape, but it never really took off.

if only there were a live game online that mayors could drop in and out of, doing what they choose with their cities. the problem with region play itself is mainly the terrain. would maxis have given default maps to start off with and players use these? or would there be a person who designs a map on their screen and invites others to control sections of it. other things to consider are subjects to do with how mayors tend to keep different cities for different purposes (like one for res. one for com. and one for ind.) and how one city affects another.

I love the idea!!! I found one game, where ur the king/dictator/president of a country, and go to war with other leaders and try to take over their country, but it wasn't anything like Sim City. There could be different worlds that the creators would design, then there would be plots of land for countries and each mayor would choose his/her plot of land. Then they could build their cities within that land. That way you don't have to worry about your terraforming not matching your neighbors. And each country could have its own resources to sell and share with other countries in that world.

And I guess there could be wars, but that would be very Sim City-like.

Thats just my opinion, though.
