I just started having 10,000 people.And at this point,all of my beautiful mansions are gone!!My city is now all full of big,brown,ugly buildings...Any way to get rid of them?They remain until my population is over 150,000.

Simply mess with taxes. Raise $ taxes and lower $$$ taxes. Works like a charm.

Rezone your desired area to light density. I always have this situation in my new cities, firstly your sims are poor and ignorant, they need their time to become wealthier.

They are low wealth flats, give better education, fire protection, police, more parks etc. and they will change slowly to higher wealth.

Give them education, and they will slowly upgrade to medium and high-wealth apartments. Or you could download some BATs from the STEX, to get some more varitey.
