No cars in my city!

I've had sim city 4 for a while but my computer crashed and i had to re-install it. I was making a city it had about

1,000 people and i noticed something there are no cars on any of the roads. Even when i build roads you know

how those little construction vehicle's that come up and start building they don't even show up. What is the problem

here am i missing a file?

Are your settings turned down? That might stop cars from showing. Also, I find if i'm on a far zoom level (1, 2) cars don't show up. Also, if you have the game paused for awhile then cars will dissapear.

Ok i just madea my sim and drove the car and the cars show up now in mayor mode but only when you are in the closest zoom or the second closest zoom. It is not on pause. Where are my setting that i can turn up? i haven't played this in a year so i'm still trying to figure things out.
