Tunnels

Hey. What are the required conditions to get a tunnel to be constructed? I'm talking about the heights and stuff. Often times I try for tunnels but the road just ends up going over the hill that I wanted a tunnel to go through. Is there some mod to make it stop doing that?

Any advice?

When trying to set out a road tunnel over a hill, go right over it until the line turns green. It won't happen if you don't go far enough, also it won't happen if you go to far. It needs practice to get it right.

Also, think of it like this. In real life, would you build a tunnel through a gentle hill if you can build over or cut away at the hill.quote>

Actually, there is a reason why you would build a tunnel on a really gentle hill: to bypass all of the other structures on top of the hill for quick transportation (such as a highway). In our highway, perhaps we'd have an exit linking to the stuff on top of that gentle hill. That way, in real life, you don't have the stuff on top slowing down traffic.

There are reasons for both building under (or more accurately, through) or building over.

Exactly. Like how the Mt. Baker tunnel has I-90 passing under a bunch of Seattle on the way to Mercer Island and points east. That's what I want to be able to do but the game likes to make the road go over not under. >.<

I guess we can and that to the list of things to hope for in the REAL SC5.
