Mods for building freeway tunnels?

I'm looking for a mod to build a highway tunnel.

The tunnel will be built under an existing hi-rise downtown area, so it has to be buildable in that environment without affecting existing buildings.

I tried the hole digger mod, but it doesn't work (or I don't know how to use it).

Also, what if I want the tunnel to be not straight, how do I do that? 

Any suggestions?

i don't think it is possible to build curved underground highways.

if you want to curve a tunnel, i would suggest making two separate tunnels with the curve above ground

If the ground level is too low the hole digger will hit water, so use a shallower digger, and raise the ground where the tunnel will be. Once you get the tunnel, you can level the terrain over the tunnel. You can then zone over it, but sometimes high profile vehicles will show going through the tunnel. You can disguise the entrances with Pegusus tree lots.

Isn't there something standard on the NAM that allows road to go underground (but not freeway). I'm not sure as I cant check Sim City 4, as it's uninstalled at the moment!

yes there is, its called FLUPs (FLexible UnderPass lots), and it's basically a road with underground paths

The FLUP can't go under buildings but it can go under roads.

you have to draw each underground section separately... Yawn

To tell the truth, I never really liked the NAM...

also, tunnels have to be straight, not diagonal either (The MAXIS ones atleast) unless there is a mod... (IDEA!)

Oh, so its only use is for when you have two main roads, and you don't want them to intersect (as no-one wants to get on the other road)? Are you a modder? If you are, here's an idea, diagonal tunnels!

As for not liking the NAM, to the doctors with you, kai22015. The NAM is epic win if you use it properly.

You could just use the hole digger lots to lower the ground either side of the down town area. then drag a tunnel through them. This would only work efficiently with a thin/small down town area.

fair enough, but you cant place roads on either side of the tunnel entrance (unless there is a mod for that?)

You cannot mod diagonal tunnels. Tunnells are hardcoded into the game and cannot be modified because we do not know how to and it would be a breach of copyright, as far as I can remember. Correct me if I'm wrong.
