Organizing my plugins issues

I am having trouble downloading and organizing my plugins in an easy fashion. One of the big problems is installers from SC4D because it takes forever to go through a hundred or so installers, mainly because of taking taking the time for pathfinding. I've gone through 4 different systems of organizing over the last year or so, starting over completely on the next system. None of my systems work well when using these installers. What I am asking is, can someone recommend me a mass downloading and organizing system that works well (doesn't take forever) with these installers, or is there none?

If you're willing to do a little work, you could download AutoHotkey, and create a script that automatically extracts the zip files to a custom folder in the system, searches for an installer, and if it finds ones, runs it, or if there's no installer, looks for certain file formats such as .dat, .SC4Lot, .SC4Desc, .SC4Model, and move them into the plugins folder. It shouldn't take too long to make the script, and after that, every time you've finished a downloading spree, you could just run it and be done with it. There are still a few downsides though, obviously. Some installers (such as ones made by newer users) have the wrong path set (or something among those lines). Not to mention, say there was a building with both a residential and commerical version included, and you only wanted the commercial version... well guess what... 3.gif

Thanks, I may look into that. The more I think about it, the best answer to my question may be that there is no easier way. I just dislike the time it takes to go through a bunch of dreary installers.

Try just making a bunch of sub folders. Example. I have a buildings folder with three sub folders res, com, and ind. Then each one is divided into $, $$, and $$$ (CO and CS as well for com). Then I have a folder named Utilities with sub folders water, power, garbage. Basically, I have folders labeled as what they are. I think I have Mods, Eye Candy, Buildings, Utilities, Civic, Transportation, and probably a couple others but I'm not sure (I'm still organizing and I have at least 150 folders still spread out in my plugins folder so I don't really want to search for what I have but I think you get the picture). Then, I made a notepad doc that has a list of all dependencies I have downloaded along with a separate folder containing the dependencies separated by who made it (BSC, PEG, etc). It's kinda complicated, and I'm still working on organizing it, but it works for me! Another idea is to put every thing in it's own folder. Even if it has one file, give it it's own folder, and name it accordingly. That small little process has done wonders for me.
