Rush Hour crashing SC4

I've ben reading the forums and scrounging the archives for the past 6 months, just generally lurking. Yesterday I installed Rush Hour for the first time on this computer. It ran fine for one instance and the next time I opened it, it crashes.

What happens:

I open it, it loads fine. I try to open a new region and it crashes. I opened a few minutes ago and left it sitting. When I came back, I loaded a new region with no problems. I went to a blank city with no problems. I was even able to match the edges of the neighbor city with no problems. The trouble began when I tired to enter mayor mode and begin the city.

This is all on a 1.8 GHz iMac G5 with 256MB RAM (perhaps a ram upgrade is in order?)

I'm a tad bit dismayed by what I've read about Rush Hour here and on the rest of the web, and I'm hoping that my purchase wasn't in vain.

Is there any hope of salvaging Sim City 4 on my computer and making it run (fairly) well?

I think a RAM upgrade should do the trick, you're at the absolute minimum req.

I had been playing with 512, which is the recommended amount for RH, and while it didn't crash, it was barely tolerable, I upgraded to 1024, and it's much better.
