Subway question

Is there a way to view the map in underground view when you build subway stations? I have a big city and I want to replace all the subway stations with the modded ones that hold 8,000 capacity, but it's really troublesome since there are too many skyscrapers and I cannot get a clear view.

Well, there are a couple things you can do. You can select the build subway tool then zoom out and find the stations you which to replace. You'll have to do that every time, but it's the best method I know of. You can also select the "zone" option in the data view, but I think once you switch to the subway station tool it goes back to the default half transparent half not. You can also just do your best to find the stations using the traffic option in the data view and select the subway option. It'll help you see where the lines are so you can use your best judgment to find the stations you want to replace.

I have no trouble demolishing stations. I just go to subway view and demolish them quickly. Problem is when I try to replace them, it's in underground view but still with buildings in the way. And I can't go to data views in underground view either. This sucks...they should make it so that both subways and subway stations are built without being able to see the buildings.

I'm assuming the data view zones didn't work. Hmmm...and I'm guessing you have monstrous skyscrapers that block the roads and other ground level items. All I can say is, is that if you can see the road, then look for the open spaces. But if you can't, then you might have to delete the buildings to see it. Sorry. But I could have sworn that you can add transit buildings while in the data view "zones".

When I have this problem, I use a couple methods of finding the blank spots for rebuilding demolished subway stations. One is to use the sign post feature in the mayor tools before demolition. You can use it while in subway view. First mark the stations (or the road right in front of them) with a sign that says "SW" or "sub" or whatever; next, demolish the stations; then use the sign posts to help you determine where to plop the replacements. Another method is to demolish a single tile of road immediately in front of the station and use the blank space as a reference point. You should be able to plop the subway station in Zone View. If not, do this: when plopping the new station, move the cursor on top of the road -- the arrow will be red for each tile that contains road, then turn green on the tile where the road was demolished. Now move the cursor to the adjacent tile where you want the station, and pay close attention to the plop cost to make sure you're on the blank tile (if the cost depicted with the cursor is higher than the cost of the station, you will take out a building if you plop it there). Then just rebuild that tile of road. If buildings block your view of the road itself, you can rebuild it in Zone View or rebuild a whole stretch of it if you have to.
