Issues With Maps

I know how to import maps from the forum, as well as SC4 Mapper.

However, when I do so the elevations are all wrong.

Typically where there is suppose to be water, where there is a huge plateau. And the few mountains in the map show up in the game has huge peeks.

Am I doing something wrong here?

This has been happening for a while now, on my old computer and my new one.

I have SimCity Deluxe, and previously had SimCity 4 with Rush Hour installed as well.

Any help is appreciated!

Thank you

Either you'll have a terrain mod somewhere in your plugins, or the creator used a terrain mod which you don't have.

For the first possibility, make sure you remove everything from your plugins folders before you render the map.

For the second, check the STEX description and the readme file to see if the creator is using or says a particular terrain mod is required.

In the unmodded game a greyscale value of 86 should be the lowest lying land.

Check for a file named "import.dat", it is the most common height mod. The other height mods would have a number in the file name.

You could temporarily rename the plugins folder instead of removing your custom content.

Removing plugins should be dead easy. Either use SC4 Startup Manager to do it automatically at the click of a button or just use Windows explorer to move them manually to a pair of holding folders. Render your map, then move the plug-ins back in.

You can read about SC4 Startup Manager here: https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=121&threadid=70989&enterthread=y

I did remove the plugins, and I uploaded a map onto SimCity and it worked perfectly.

Thank you so much, now I can continue with my CJ!
