HELP! I can't get rid of a lot in game.

Hello everyone, I need some help deleting a lot. I made a mistake placing it and now it won't delete no matter how much I hit the demolish button. I can run rail lines through it and even streets. I've tried raising and cratering the terrain, and then leveling it. Nothing works to get rid of it. I just hope I don't have to obliterate the city just to get rid of this little beast -- I have a population of 67,000.

I'll appreciate any suggestions. Thank you!

    Never mind, I figured it out! I zoned the space taken by the building, waited for sims to build something on it (it didn't actually show), and then de-zoned. The station is finally gone.
