Hi guys

Im a relative newbie to the SC4 rush hour game. Only bought it a few weeks ago and having some awesome fun creating cities..

I have a subtle issue which iam not sure what the reason for is. It has to do with inter-city connections.

First, If i pick one of the regions that come preloaded with the software i can connect to any city i want with rail, road, avenue, highway etc.. When i go into the new city i want to connect to i can see the road and continue the connection.

However, If i create a new region (lets just say a simple flat, no water region) I draw an inter-city connection. I get prompted with the stock message of whether i actually want to connect, I hit the accept button and the connection is made. I save the current city and move to the new city and the connection is not there.

Has this ever occured to anyone before, if so how can i get around it. Im wasting a lot of time counting tiles and guessing where the connection is..I realy don't want to nuke the cities and start again...

I would gladly appreciate all help

things to know i have the 2009 NAM for MAC

Both of the cities have to be recalled in order to see the connection, meaning that the borders have to be in exactly the same place, but if you're playing in a flat region I don't know what to say.

Check agian for the connection. There are a few possibilities with your problem.

1. You bulldozed the connection without realizing.

2. You can't find the connection (yes they are small, you have to look along the border on zoom level two or three)

Apart from that I have no clue, it's a strange problem, but SimCity 4 has been known to cause many problems, most that we had to fix ourselves.

Sorry I couldn't help further. -Element

thanks elemented9 for the quick response.

I tried all of these hints but to no avail before i resorted to this..It is quite odd.

In my region (flat region as iam experimenting) i have a central city flagged by 4 satellite cities in a N,E,S,W configuration. I can see the highway connection on the North side and the East side, but not the South and West sides.

Funny thing is this morning i booted up the game before i went to work, I chose the central city and could see the connection in the bootup period of the game. As soon as the game loaded i went to the western side to join the two sections of road together and it was gone..

MY subway connections are working fine...i did a good job of tile counting and managed to connect. However, i can not see any traffic using the highway, so iam not sure if the connection is good. I will persevere and try and find a fix.

its a flat city as i am experimenting with a few different scenarios so the edges are already reconciled. If i play some of my other cities that are built using the standard regions provided by SC4 i dont have this problem..its weird i might re-install the game and see if this corrects it.

Yes, I would recommend that. Remember to create a back-up of your plugins folder (If you're using any mods or custom content) before unistalling... maybe something went wrong during the installation which caused this issue.

Another option that I have come up with is maybe something in your plugins folder is affecting the game. I would try renaming the plugins folder to something else "ex. plugins1" (not moving any custom content) and then load the game. If you still have issues rename the plugins folder back to the original name, "plugins" and re-install the game.

If it works without the custom content, then it has to be something in your plugins folder that is affecting the game. It's all just a matter of finding out which file is screwing it up.

I hope this helps 4.gif -element

    i agree with your thoughts...

before i do that i may try and alter the video settings as the game is rather slow as the detail of the city gets bigger. It may be that it is struggling to load all the detail and forgets some...if this doesn't do it i will remove the mod plugins (easy to do as i have them in a separate folder) as u suggested, if that fails then re-install....

thanks for your help and suggestions...i am not used to games not working well
